1. Reflection

Memories are experiences from the past that we look back when things get rough. It
might be something that you used to enjoy during your childhood or anything that already
happened in the past that became part of who you are today.

The movie "Inside Out" made me realize three things. First, life is not always about
rainbows and butterflies. Life can sometimes be a sturdy storm or an erupting volcano. When
Riley left their town to move to their new house, she felt burdened by all the memories she had in
there. She got stuck on her past to the point that she can't seem to move on. No matter how hard
Joy wants to change her mood, Sadness always wins. Just like in real life, we should not expect to
always feel happy especially when you know yourself that you couldn’t take it anymore.

Second, it is okay to feel sad and feel lonely. We all know that sadness is inevitable and
that there's nothing wrong with it. Feel every pain life offers because it demands to be felt
anyway. Embrace it because it will soon fade away and it will make you feel better.

Third, sometimes we need to let it all out. To let our angriness take over us, to let all the
hate consume us because keeping it might make it harder for us to carry.

You can't be happy all the time, but you can't also feel sad every time. Joy, Sadness,
Angry, Fear and Disgust make life meaningful. They all work together to make us feel alive and
each one of them teaches us lessons when needed. No one of them must consume you for too
long, for we must keep it all in balance to achieve a life worth living for.

4. Are feelings the same with emotion?

Feelings are not the same with emotion. While basic emotions are instinctual and
common to us all, the meanings they take on and the feelings they prompt are individually based
on our programming past and present. Feelings are shaped by a person’s temperament and
experiences and vary greatly from person to person and situation to situation. Emotions are event-
driven, while feelings are learned behaviors that are usually in hibernation until triggered by an
external event. Unlike happiness for example (a feeling), joy (an emotion) involves little
cognitive awareness—we feel good without consciously deciding to—and it is longer lasting.
Whereas happiness is usually induced by and dependent on outside conditions, joy is something
we experience more deeply; it’s a state of being that’s not necessarily tied to external situations.
While happiness is a state of mind based on circumstances, joy is an internal feeling that
disregards circumstances.
