angle 90 degree to a workplace and
edge and to test the accuracy of
the surface.

2. HEIGHT GAUGE

- A height gauge is a measuring

device used for determining the
height of objects, and for marking
of items to be worked on.

3. HACKSAW

- A hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw,

originally and mainly made for
cutting metal

- A file is a tool used to remove fine
amounts of material from a
workpiece. It is common in

with a conical point for making an
indentation, to allow a frill to make
a hole at a same spot without
slipping.

- This is a hand tool used in a metal

work to mark lines on workpiece.

7. SURFACE PLATE

- A surface plate is a solid, flat

plate used as a main horizontal
reference plane for precision
inspection, marking out, and
tooling setup.

8. ANGLE PLATES

- This is a work holding device used

as a fixture in metalworking.
9. HAMMER

- This is a tool consisting of a

weighted “head” fixed to a long
handle that is swung to deliver an
impact to a small area of an object.

edge of blade on its end, for carving
or cutting a hard material such as
wood, stone or metal by hand,
struck with a mallet, or mechanical
power.

- As the base of the center punching

work is done. It is used as base
during the forming process. An
anvil is a metalworking tool
consisting of a large block of metal,
with a flattened top surface, upon
which another object is struck.

14. TAPS

 A tap is used to cut or form the

female portion of the mating pair.

 Twist drill bit are end cutting tools

used to produce holes in most
types of material.

17. DRILLING MACHINE

used to drill through various
materials to fasten them together,
boreholes in tough concrete walls
and used by woodworkers while
making furniture.

4.2 PROCESS

NO. DIAGRAM PROCEDURES

1. Prepare
Prepare two pieces of plate for the
project which will give by the lecturer.

2. Filing

The first process is filing. Student have to

file the two surfaces of the work piece to
be 90˚ by using L-square. So, student
have to use file as hand tools.

3. Marking
Once students done with the filing
process, students have to do the marking
process by using the vernier height
gauge, surface plate and angle plate. In
this process the lecturer will guide the
students to make sure the measurement
is correct.
4. Center punch

After the marking process done student

have to make center punch on the plate.
This process needs to be done because
to make student easily to drill. It has 5
places on work piece need to drill.

5. Drilling
After making a center punch on the work
piece, students need to drill on work
piece. Drilling have two size of twist drill
bit which is 8mm and 5mm.

6. Cutting

After done drilling, students need to use

hacksaw as a tool to cut. Students will
cut the work piece which is not required.
7. Carved

Student need to carved on part (II).

Student will use chisel and hammer to
remove the work piece is not required
for part (II). After that students will file
all side of work piece to be 90˚.

8. Tread
After that student need to use tap on
part (I). Student will make tread on part
(I) at big holes. Lecture will guide
student went do this step.

9. Finishing
Last step is finishing. Student use file to
make thin surface and neat. Student will
use file to make the thin surface until
the thickness plate was 5mm. Lecture
will make final check on student plate.
Lecture will check the length and the
height of plate.

5.2 Cause of project error

Error defeat Method of solve problem

Need to take some times to file

the surface by using file.

 The plate surface is not file

Need to hold the work piece very

tight when start to drill.

 The centre drill is not accurate
