NARRATIVE AND PICTORIAL REPORT ON SECOND QUARTER

NATIONWIDE EARTHQUAKE DRILL

In line with the campaign of Department of Education in equipping the school children
with the knowledge, and skills on what to do in case of natural and man-made disasters like
earthquake and fire, Northville VI Elementary School conducted its quarterly earthquake in the
school campus last June 21, 2018 at exactly 2 o’ clock in the afternoon for earthquake drills.
Mrs. Christian Catherine L. Gonzalo the school coordinator of DRRM led the activity with the
teachers and their respective classes. The drill was carried out simultaneously and smoothly. All
grade levels occupied the designated area for them based on the evacuation plan.
Before the actual drills, Mrs. Christian Catherine L. Gonzalo, and with the help of the
other teachers at the main campus of the said school undertook an orientation inside the
classroom and let the pupils watch video clip regarding different disasters like earthquake. She
disseminated the information about the occurrence of earthquake as well as the needs to carry out
a drill to enhance the pupils’ awareness on the safety measures before, during and after the said
disaster. She made-mentioned of the guidelines for the drills and also pointed out the possible
evacuation area in the school. This event facilitated the drills to become successful with
100%pupils and teachers’ participation.
Furthermore, this activity intensified the pupils’ preparedness and highlighted their
awareness regarding disaster risk reduction whenever they are in time of incidences. On the other
hand, this helped a lot the teachers and the school in managing emergencies especially, the
earthquake occurrences.
