______________________________________________________________________________

Good evening,

The purpose of this letter is to apply for the position of Intelligence Officer, if possible, the
position of FAO, and what makes me qualified to be selected. I will be earning my bachelor’s
degree in Criminal Justice and commission FY May 2020 with 12 hours of foreign language
included. I am also one of the top ranked cadets within my Detachment, a Distinguished
Graduate of FTU 2, 2017, currently hold the position of Vice Wing CC this term and am on track
for Commander in the Spring.

As a POC cadet in the AFROTC program I have been fortunate to be have multiple opportunities
in training, leadership, academics, and working with AD personnel on a daily basis, affording me
valuable experience and an understanding of the dynamic for successful units. Within the
Detachment I have held multiple leadership positions that have helped shape me into the leader
and supervisor I am today. The most valuable positions for my growth were Flight Commander
and Ops Group Commander, both involved me training a group of individuals that I was
ultimately responsible for.

My experiences did not stop within the Detachment however, I have volunteered for multiple
PDT’s (Professional Development Opportunities), in order to increase my training and potential
as an Officer. Some of these PDT’s included LedX, Field Training CTA duty, and the Veteran’s
Vigil that we hold each year. As a CTA at Field Training I was responsible for teaching lessons,
facilitating my scenario, and many more duties. I was responsible for briefing Colonels, Lt
Colonels and Captains on my lessons and status as well, which will transition well with the
briefings done in Intelligence.

Because of the leadership positions I’ve held, opportunities afforded, and the amount of public
speaking & briefings I’ve given, I am in confident in my ability to be an effective Intel Officer.
Not only do I have the background that will transition well into this field, but my Cadre could
vouch for me in that I am always true to my word, am an effective public speaker &
communicator, and that I do well in stressful environments, I keep a clear head and can still do
what is needed in times of stress. I am extremely passionate about this field and career, and will
take the necessary steps to learn what I don’t know, both formally and informally, so that we can
carry out the mission.

I would like to thank you for the opportunity and consideration for entry into the world’s greatest
Air Force.

Very Respectfully,
Seth N. McNelley
