SOLID

 Arrangement:
 tightly packed,
 Usually in a regular pattern.
 particles locked into place
 Relative Spacing:
 condensed phase
 not easily compressible
 little free space between particles
 Relative motion:
 does not flow easily
 rigid - particles cannot move/slide past one
another
 PARTICLES vibrate but generally do not move
from place to place

LIQUID
 Arrangement:
 Close together with no regular arrangement.
 assumes the shape of the part of the container
which it occupies

 Relative Spacing:
 condensed phase
 not easily compressible
 little free space between particles
 Relative motion:
 flows easily
 particles can move/slide past one another
 move about and slide past each other

GAS
 Arrangement:
 Well-separated with no regular arrangement.
 assumes the shape of the part of the container
which it occupies
 particles can move/slide past one another
 Relative Spacing:
 Compressible
 lots of free space between particles
 Relative motion:
 flows easily
 particles can move/slide past one another
 move freely at high speeds
