BEC GRADUATE CAN STILL BE ENROLLED IN COLLEGE FOR A.Y 2017–2018

According to a commission on higher education (CHED)

memorandum all high school student who graduate before
2016 can still enroll in college during school year (S.Y) 2017-
2018. Since CHED has no plan to extend the deadline, school
year 2017-2018 is the last year for all BEC graduate students
to be admitted on universities and colleges and graduate under
the old curriculum. If you are a BEC graduate and you enroll
in school year 2018-2019 they will be considered as a part of
a new curriculum program and because they did not go
through the k to 12 system they need to undergo bridging

new curriculum and for the student who is already enrolled in
college, they need to continue their education because the old
curriculum will be phased out by school year 2020-2021.

CONSTRUCTION PROJECT CONTINUE TO TRANSFORM CAMPUS

Polytechnic University of the Philippines Alfonso Campus is

continued to develop. The population of students are also
continued to grow and as a result the campus is growing and
improving to accommodate the influx of the students. February
2018, marks the beginning of the construction of a three-story,
thirty-classroom building at PUP Alfonso Campus.

Mr. Pascualito Gatan, Vice President of Polytechnic University of

the Philippines for branches and campuses said that the students of
PUP Alfonso Campus need to work and strive harder in achieving
excellence for the school and their selves and he said that the PUP
Alfonso Campus need to develop for the benefit of the students
and also of the faculty members and administration of the campus.
Also Ms. Jessa Maligaya, the chief engineer for the construction of
the building said that they will ensure the best for the students who
will use the facilities.

Many students of PUP Alfonso Campus were very happy and

joyful for the project because for them, it will serve as their path

There are many reasons for the question

“why do universities should make it mandatory for
all students to take an entrance exam.” First, the
entrance exam determine the level of student’s
interest in that university and the career they pursuit.
There are many students applying to universities just
because of their parents’ wish or merely because

a certain school, he’ll try his best and study really
hard to fulfil his wish. In addition, an entrance exam
can help the university choose the best students
where they get scholarships from it and from
governments and companies so that they can spend
their time studying or innovations to be the best to
help our nation. Finally, an entrance exam can
balance and improve the student’s work and
environment.

It can also push the students into being serious about their career and future. It can never hinder their
dreams even though many feel that it is not fair for the below average students. They might think they are
not going to make it or pass to get into the university they want to go, but a little more determination will
drive these thoughts away. That is why many out of school youth and the first graduates of K-12 program
inquired to our “Sintang Paaralan” and took an entrance exam last April 2018. The out of school youth
were given an opportunity to pursuit their study. In the first batch of examination with the blessing from
God above nineteen (19) students passed the entrance exam and eighty – one students (81) passed the
second batch of examination.

Dengvaxia Controversy

ongoing for the last six decades, so

analysis about denvangxia and they

have never had a dengue infection
before pose a significantly higher
risk of more severe form of the
disease and hospitalizations with
Dengvaxia that if they had not
been vaccinated against dengue at
all”

experiencing dengue symptoms.

children even against rise to a
phenomenon known as “Vaccine
Hesitancy”. Because of this
vaccine hesitancy 1 in 5 children in
our country fail to receive routine
immunization so the effect is the
Tigdas outbreak in our country in
2019.

BLOOD LETTING ACTIVITY

“The blood donor of today may be recipient of tomorrow”

Dugong Alay, Dugtong Buhay: “Ang Madugong
Pagkakawanggawa”
CSC (Central Student Council) held its
annual bloodletting activity last September 20, 2018 at
Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Alfonso
Campus in Manggas II Alfonso, Cavite. Which
attracted more than 30 participants and yielded a total
of 30 blood bags which were turned over to the
Philippine Red Cross (PRC).
But last year in the annual blood letting
activity the Philippine Red Cross the Central Student
Council attracted more that 50+ people and they
yielded a total of 50+ blood bags so the total of the
blood bags in the annual get less than in 2019 annual
blood letting activity. The blood donation activity was
done in partnership with the PRC, which is the
recipient of the Project of the CSC (Central Student
Council).
We need to encourage other students in our
school so we can donate more blood bags to the
Philippine Red Cross (PRC) and we can make a new
life to the people that we need our blood. We can
make a change to the life a person by donating our
blood. “The blood you, donate gives someone
another chance at life. One day that someone may
be close relative, a friend, a love one or even you.”

The celebration of another year of excellence
of PUP Alfonso Campus started on July 4 – 7, 2018
with the theme of PUP-AC@5“Committed to Pursue
Academic Excellence” The continuous of providing a
high quality education to the students not only
wisdom but also a good inspiration to others.
In the first day of celebration July 4, 2018 the
program started with opening ceremonies that led by
the Student Council and Professor which held at PUP
–AC ground. On the opening remarks Director Denise
Abril gives an inspirational message to the students
and she was very thankful because it is another year of
success in the university. Afterwards is the gathering
of all player travel to assigned venues to play games.
On the second day July 5, the academic contest
began together wViith the Academic Research
Colloquium that presented by chosen students and
specially Professor Andrew Siducon that
explained his study very well.
The next day July 6, is the
championship of Volleyball and
Basketball games and the last day of celebration July
7 was the traditional walk and the thanksgiving mass
and blessings of 5th year anniversary of PUP –
Alfonso Campus attended by PUPIANS and re –
gather in the PUP – AC ground for the convocation
and closing ceremonies.
The convocation was followed attended by
board Member Reinalyn V. Varias, Vice Mayor
Randy Salamat and Sangguniang Bayan with Guest
Speaker Ping Remulla. They gave their inspirational
message and very thankful that PUP-Ac remain
stronger and give opportunities to the student to have
a better life for their future and dreams.
The students and staff are very thankful
because they celebrate the event successfully.

Christmas Party 2018

The holidays can be stressful and the last thing
anybody wants to do is worry about prepping for Christmas
party.
University of the Philippines Alfonso Campus. The Central
Student Council led and organized the program. The
program started with the brief introduction of the speakers
by the CSC officers. Asst.Prof. Conrado L. Nati gave his
overwhelming remarks followed by the Christmas
messages from Asst.Prof. Cherry E. Angeles, Asst. Prof.
Lambert De Guia, Asst. Prof. Felipe L. Fernandez and last
but not the least Asst. Prof. Eva C. Malimban.

The students actively participated in the games like sack

Last December 17, 2018, the PUPians enjoyed the
Christmas party. The party was held at Polytechnic
race, calamansi relay, singing bee, puddle jumper where
the ping pong ball is placed on a glass full of water. The
player would make the ball jump to another glass by
blowing it, and the pocky game where the participants
passed the paper to another player through their mouth and
that was so funny.
There were also raffles like rice, T-shirt, tumbler
and some personal collections that made the students
happy. The majorettes did their intermission number. There
were also gift giving activities for every deserving students
chosen by each classroom president.

Few of the students did not attend the said

Christmas party maybe because they are excited about
Christmas break. There were students who made carols to
ate Nora’s canteen and to the admins and staffs they were
very happy on that day.

“ Filipino-Wika ng Saliksik”

celebrated the “Buwan ng Wika”
with the theme “Filipino-Wika ng
Saliksik”.
“Buwan ng Wika” is a
special event that we celebrate
every August of the year. It is to
show that our national language is
not just for the use of our
communication towards each
other, but it is also our foundation
to be known as an individual and
as a country. Last 31st of August
2018, Polytechnic University of the
Philippines Alfonso Campus
celebrated “Buwan ng Wika” with
the theme “Filipino-Wika ng
Saliksik”. The celebration was
organized by the Filipino
Professor, Mrs. Eva Malimban and
the central student council of PUP
Alfonso Campus. The celebration
began with a short official
reception of Assistant Director of
PUP Alfonso Campus, Mr.
Conrado L. Nati Jr. and followed
by stimulating speech from Asst.
Prof. Lambert D. De Guia.
Mrs.Eva Malimban gave a short
speech regarding the program and
this theme this 2018.
PUP staffs, professors and
students wore Filipino attire. Each
courses have representatives for
“Lakan” and “Lakambini” and
each of them gave a short speech
about “Wikang Filipino”. Two
student from BSE 1-English, Ms.
Daniela Ordona and Mr. Syrell
Mojica performed a “tagalong”
song that impressed many of
students. Mr. Clyde Cyruz Alcaras
from BSE IV-English presented a
beautiful and creative spoken
poetry.
“TAKAW de AGOSTO” is
one of the traditions for the
celebration of “Buwan ng Wika” at
PUP Alfonso Campus wherein
every student prepared different
