Dichotomy
 Is the belief that humans consist of a
body and a soul/spirit.
The Soul and Spirit is used interchangeably
The view believes that they are part of the 2
compositions of Human being:
Since soul and spirit used interchangeably, the
human being composed of 2 things the
soul/spirit and body. Therefore the soul and
spirit is the same thing.
Matthew 10:28 “And fear not them which kill
the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but
rather fear him which is able to destroy both
soul and body in hell.”
Luke 1:46-47 “And Mary said, My soul doth
magnify the Lord, And my spirit hath rejoiced in
God my Saviour.”
I Corinthians 5:3 “For I verily, as absent in body,
but present in spirit, have judged already, as
though I were present, concerning him that
hath so done this deed,”
I Corinthians 7:34 “There is difference also
between a wife and a virgin. The unmarried
woman careth for the things of the Lord, that
she may be holy both in body and in spirit: but
she that is married careth for the things of the
world, how she may please her husband.”
Trichotomy

The Soul and Spirit is different.
The view believes that they are part of the 3
compositions of Human being:
Human being composed of 3 things the spirit,
soul and body therefore they are not the same.
Spirit is differing from Soul, and from Body, the
same thing as Soul is differ from Spirit and the
Body is differing from neither Soul nor the
Spirit. Take a look. (Hebrews 4:12 KJV) "For the
word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper
than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the
dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the
joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of the heart."
Soul and Spirit can be divided, by what? By
Gods word therefore they are not the same.
When the Body dies, it will return to dust and
on earth. The soul will also die alongside with
Body and the spirit will return to God.
(Ecclesiastes 12:7 KJV) "Then shall the dust
return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall
return unto God who gave it."
