Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited felicitates Indian Boxers

with a cash prize of Rs3.5 lakhs


New Delhi, October 11, 2011: Monnet Ispat & Energy Ltd. (MIEL) the flagship company of
the Monnet Group, under the aegis of its continuous endeavour of extending support for
boxing sport in India, today felicitated Vikas Krishnan, Devendro Singh, Jai Bhagwan and
Manoj Kumar for their stupendous Olympic qualification efforts storm at the recently
concluded World boxing Championships at Baku, Azerbaijan.

Honouring the efforts of the pugilists, MIEL in a felicitation ceremony at the Monnet House,
felicitated Vikas Krishanan with a cash prize of Rs 2 lakhs for the winning Bronze medal at
the championship. MIEL also felicitated Devendro Singh (49 Kgs), Jai Bhagwan (60 Kgs) and
Manoj Kumar (69 Kgs) with a cash prize of Rs 50,000 each for their awe inspiring
performances at the championship.

MIEL had associated itself with the Indian Boxing Federation (IBF) by becoming the official
team and kit sponsors of the Indian Boxing Team for a period of 3 years starting from
2010.The support extended has been collectively acknowledged by the Federation and
boxers alike as a silent driving force behind the stellar performances of the boxers. Infact,
these achievements have prompted the IBF in further extending the commercial partnership
with Monnet Group till 2017 so as to ensure a solid platform for the future of the sport in
the country. The deal spread over 7 years now amounts close to 2 million USD which shall
ensure adequate support to the pugilists and the boxing federation till 2017 well after the
Rio Olympics slated for 2016. The sponsorship deal covers the entire Indian team –
men’s senior, junior and sub junior teams along with the women’s senior, junior and sub
junior teams.

Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Sandeep Jajodia, Executive Vice Chairman & Managing
Director, Monnet Ispat & Energy Limited said, “At the outset, I would like to congratulate
our pugilists for their outstanding performance at the World boxing Championships at Baku,
Azerbaijan. Our boxers have made our country proud by proving their mettle to the world
and Monnet extends a token of appreciation to the boxers for their efforts through
felicitating and motivating them.”

and set new standards for boxing excellence in the country and to put India in an even more
premier position on the world map. The Monnet Boxing Foundation amongst other things
like supporting and sponsoring various national and Zonal championships shall also be
establishing World Class academies in the country that shall constantly churn quality
pugilists and keep a steady pipeline of fighters ready to adorn the national colours.” Added
