2.2 Format of the study
2.2.1 Thesis analysis should be from 60 to 80 pages. Each part will be started in a new page.
The heading should be ordered and leveled by number (for example: 1- called first

level; 1.1- called second level; 1.1.1- called third level; and 1.1.1.2 - called fourth
level. It should not excess fourth level of headings. The analysis should come before
the table.
2.2.2 Language: English will be used for the thesis writing.

2.2.3 Paper: The white paper with a size of A4 will be used for one side printing. Diagrams
and pictures should be printed in a special paper. The other special presentations such
as maps and balance sheet accounting should be folded to fit with the size of A4
paper.

2.2.4 Margins:

Top: 1,2” (3 cm) Bottom: 1.2” (3 cm)


Left: 1,2” (3 cm) Right: 0,8” (2 cm)

2.2.5 Font: Font of Times New Roman and font size of 14 will be used for thesis writing.
The title of part 1, 2, 3 and 4 will be capital letters and bold; its first and second level
headings will be letters and bold; and its third level headings will be letter, bold, and
italic. Other heading levels will be typical typing.

2.2.6 Page numbers: Thesis must be numbered. It will be number by letters (i, ii, iii…) in
all parts excepting the content of part 1, 2, 3 and 4. Position of page number will be in
bottom and right.

2.2.7 Line spacing: It will be 1.5 single lines for content of analysis. The space between
part headings and the first level headings is 3 single lines. The space between ending
of any analyses and the next heading is 2 single lines. The space before and after
tables and diagrams… will be 2 single lines. The space between two references is 1
single line.

2.2.8 Number of hard copy: 3 with hard cover or soft cover

2.2.9 Tables and figures

 It will be numbered by number of each part with explanation(s) if needed. For


example:
Table 2.3 will be the second table in Part 2
Table 3.3 will be the third table in Part 3
 The title of tables will be before content
 The title of figures will be after content

2.2.10 Literature cites


a. Citing from 1 author (can be applied for citing from co-author or more than two
authors)
For example:
According to Friberg (2002), the participant of ethnic is limited….
Or : The participant of ethnic is limited… (Friberg, 2002)
b. Citing from co-author: using conjunction to connect between two authors

For example:
Ravallion and Van de Walle (2003) conducted a study of agricultural land allocation
in Vietnam.
Or Agricultural land allocation in Vietnam is………(Ravallion and Van de Walle,
2003)
c. Citing from more than two authors
It is needed to write the first author and wording of “et al” and following by year
For example:
….. business environment in Vietnam….. (Tenev et all, 2003)
d. Citing from different references and different authors
All authors must be written and separated by “;”
For example:
In the South of Vietnam……….(Do and Iyer 2003; Luong and Unger 1999; Marsh
and MacAulay 2002; Ravallion and Van de Walle, 2001, 2003)
e. Citing from un-original author (this form should not be encouraged)
For example:
Samuelson (1963) found….. (as cited in Nguyen Van An, 1999).
Note: Nguyen Van An must be in the literature cites
f. Literature cites should be divided into 2 groups namely Vietnamese and English. It
will be ordered by a, b, c and by given name if Vietnamese reference and by last
name/family name if English reference.
