THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKROUND

Gawad Kalinga (GK) Community has been a partner of CSA-Makati for more than
10 years now and a group of CSA alumni are planning to extend their help in the
community by building a small standard-sized basketball court for the kids of
Gawad Kalinga Community. Being an Augustinian, the alumni would want to seek
help from their fellow Augustinians by launching a basketball court design
contest. As a professional Augustinian Architect, the group’s task was to help
them build a blueprint with exact ratio and scale model of a standard-sized
basketball court given only limited space area (62ft by 32ft) in GK community.

THE SITUATION

CSA Alumni Association was seeking for the group’s expertise to create a
blueprint of a small basketball court for kids of Gawad Kalinga Community. Given
a limited space, the group is tasked to model the basketball court in a small scale.
As an architect, the group’s mastery in measuring will guide the group in
accomplishing the task.

THE GOAL

In groups, students are required to create and present a blueprint of a basketball

court that will be constructed in a certain space in Gawad Kalinga Community
with the given dimensions of 62ft by 32ft. Given a limited space, students are
expected to maximize the area based on the standard measurement of a
basketball court using their skills on measurements, ratio and proportion.
CONCLUSION

The group concluded that the size of the CSA Basketball Court is 40.8 ft in width
and 93.18 ft in length. The measurements of the Gawad Kalinga Court is 62ft by
32ft. The CSA Basketball Court’s length is bigger by 31.18 and CSA’S basketball
court’s length is bigger by 9.3ft.

To achieve the goal of this performance task, the group converted centimeters to
inches and inches to feet, but used the inches to fit in the illustration board. We
also used measuring tools like measuring tape. We used the unit centimeters in
measuring the CSA basketball court. We divided the horizontal lines to 45.58 and
the vertical lines to 62.12 making the measurements the perfect fit to the
illustration board.
METHODOLOGY

STAGE 1: DATE GATHERING

We measured length and width of the CSA covered court using the measuring tape in
centimeters unit.

MY INSIGHTS

1. What is the easiest and most difficult part of this PETA

according to you and your group members?
The easiest part for my group and I is when we type our answers on MS Word.
The hardest part for us measuring the CSA basketball court and converting the
measurements to different units.

2. What did you contribute to the group to achieve the goal

of this PETA?

3. Would you consider ACRCHITECTURE as your future

career? Why or why not?
STAGE 3: BLUEPRINT
