I. RATIONALE / INTRODUCTION
As we celebrate STEM Day, the program “STEM for the Ages: Here at SM, we got it all
for you” will give chances to STEM students to showcase their talents and skills in different
ways. The program was entitled STEM for the Ages because STEM students shouldn’t lose
their confidence in terms of being always present. It means that competition over other strand is
not an issue for them, the main point of the event is that STEM students do excel in different
ways. It is subtitled as “Here at SM (Science, Mathematics), we got it all for you” since mostly
stem strand covered science and mathematics.
To fund the program, the organization ATLAS will collect funds from students of STEM
strand. ATLAS (Alliance of Transcendent Leaders of Academic Sciences) is an organization
responsible for taking actions in order to serve the STEM strand and make it better.
It is observable that STEM students are good in academics but it is noticeable that many
of them do lack in confidence. To let themselves develop their talents and skills, we conducted
this program to be a way and material for students to let their selves out. On the other had
certain activities will be performed according STEM strand and to celebrate STEM Day.

II. PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A. Objectives
1. To execute and enhance students’ critical thinking;
2. To develop students’ creativity, imaginative thinking and artistry; and
3. To achieve, unity, cooperation and supportive relationship with fellow students.

B. Benefits
STEM students who will include in the event will benefit. This will let the students
realized the importance of being united and being understanding. The competitions
needs teamwork and it will teach students how they will work as a team. The program
will also enable them to develop and enhance their scientific knowledge and
mathematical ability which will lead the thinking critically. It will also make it possible for
STEM students to excel in arts and show their creative and imaginative mind.

III. METHODOLOGY
A. Venue
The program entitled “STEM for the AGES: Here at SM, we got it all for you” is planned
to be accomplished in Carlos R. Mojares Gymnasium on August 29, 2019 during the
celebration of STEM Day.
The following will be the schedule for the said program:

B. Participants
DICING MATH
 All stem students must participate from the activity.
 The competition will be divided by section, a whole section will consider as one team
AMAZING MIND RACE
 Two participant from each section must join the competition. They are the one who will
represent the whole section for this activity
SOLAR sySTEM
 Two representative must be chosen from each section to showcase their artwork.
 Whole section may join in making the clothes.
C. Project Activities
There will be three total activities to be accomplished throughout the day. The following
will be the events together with its description and mechanics/criteria to follow:

DICING MATH
"Math is Everywhere", on this event we will test the students' knowledge, skills and
ability in solving math problems. It is composed of a big dice which will be use when you get
points and a big snakes and ladders board where the representative of the section stands.
All students in every section will be able to play the game and two to three players are
needed per questions and one representative to play the role as the bet in the whole game.
The mechanics for this game will be:
1. Two to three players from each section and one representative per section.
2. The two to three players will be the one who will solve the math problems.
3. If they get the correct answers, they will roll the big dice to have progress in their
points which will be played by their representative/bet.
4. When they get one point from the dice, the bet of their section will have to do one
step depending on the points that they get on the dice on our big snakes and ladders
board.
5. After answering one question, the section must give turn to their other players on the
next question until everyone has participated.
6. The bet of the section who will get to the finish line first will become the winner of the
game.

AMAZING MIND RACE

This event will test students’ knowledge, memory about science and ability to
perform different calculations. The event includes five different stages/stations to be
taken by the participants from each section. Each station contains different task that
must be completed in 7 minutes. The time consumed and correct answers will be added
and divided by two. Participants who has the highest scores will consider to be the
winners. The mechanics for the game will be:
1. Two participants from each section must be participating.
2. First station includes questions wherein participants will identify the scientific
term which answer the question.
3. Second Station includes two simple math problem. (Using of calculator is not
allowed)
LCC Silvercrest Senior High School

4. Third Station includes identification of different parts of a main system of a

human body.
5. Fourth Station includes the medium level for mathematics calculations. (Using of
calculator is not allowed)
6. Last Station includes spelling five scientific terms.

SOLAR sySTEM
Solar sySTEM will test students’ creativity towards creating a gown with the use
of simple materials that will be given to them, and their knowledge about the solar
system. Draw lots will be performed to determine every section’s planet that will be
presented throughout the event. They will make a design of clothing for a male and
female who will represent their sections in 1 hour and 20 minutes. This will be followed
by a fashion show to showcase their creativity. The following will be the criteria for
judging:

Total
Category Scoring Criteria Score
Points
All materials given are used in creating the
15
clothes.
Creativity Neatness of the clothing is observed with the
15
( 45 points ) model.
Planet assigned was really observable in the
15
