Average Normality of KMnO4 = _____ 0,049_____ ( N )

Comment:

Experimental:
We first prepare ~25mL of 0,05N H2C2O4 then we prepare 2 flasks
following the instruction in lab manual, each flask is consist of 10mL 0.05N
H2C2O4, 20mL 6N H2SO4, and 10mL 0.05N H2C2O4. With each flask being
used for 1 trials (there are 2 trials as the table suggest).
To start the experiment we first heat up both of the flask to 80-900C, then
simultaineously record the level of KMnO4 in the burette. After the flask is
heated up to 800C we then proceed to the next step which is observing the
change in colour of the reaction of KMnO4 and H2C2O4.
The obsevervation stage requires us to continuously swirl the flask and
drop KMnO4 into the given flask of solution until the change of colour is
observable. The ideal colour we were looking for is a very slight, and
transparent spectrum of pink in the solution.

Calculations:
To calculate the normality of KMnO4 we use the following equation :
Voxidizing x Noxidizing = Vreducing x Nreducing
We can transform the equation to :
Noxidizing = (Vreducing x Nreducing)/ Voxidizing

With the oxidizing factor being KMnO4 and H2C2O4 being the reducing
one, we can substitute the given figure to the equation and calculate the
Normality of KMnO4 for the first trial of the experiment.
Noxidizing = (10 mL x 0,05 N)/ 10,2 mL
=> Noxidizing = 0,05 N
The second trials goes through the same procedure and calculations,
hence; we got the second trial Normality is:
=> Noxidizing = 0,04 N
The avgerage Normality utilise the 2 figure that we have already
calculated, given us the answer of:
=> Naverage = 0,049 N
