Enter the Vertical Vessel Geometry
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following geometry parameters for a vertical vessel foundation:

 Geometry: Used to input all the geometric parameters. STAAD Foundation Advanced can model both square and octagonal
footings for vertical vessels.

 Anchor Bolt Geometry: Used to input the pedestal geometry and the anchor bolt arrangement.

1. Launch STAAD Foundation Advanced.


2. In the Start Page, click on the Plant Mode.
3. In the Main Navigator pane, expand the Project Info group and then click on the Create Vertical Vessel Foundation item.
4. In the Vertical Vessel Job dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Unit System: English

 Design Code: US

 Code Version: ACI 318-11

Then, click Next >.


5. In the Geometry dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Unit: inches

 Foundation Type: Octagonal foundation

 Foundation Support Type: Soil Foundation

Vessel Geometry:

 Effective Diameter (Dve): 60 inches

 Effective Height (Hve): 360 inches

Pedestal Geometry:

 Diameter (Dp): 84 inches

 Thickness (Tp): 36 inches

 Bottom of Footing Elevation (B.O.F.): 126 inches

Footing Geometry:

 Diameter (Df): Min. 108 inches, Max. 190 inches

 Footing Dimension Increment: 1.992

 Height (Tf): Min. 30 inches, Max. 54 inches

Overburden and Buoyancy:

 Depth of Water Table (Dw): 240 inches

 Soil Depth (Ts): 12 inches

6. In the Anchor Bolt Geometry dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Unit: Inches

 Bolt Circle Diameter: 72 inches

 Number of Anchor Bolts (Nb): 24

 Bolt Diameter (BD): 1 inch

 Sleeve Diameter (SD): 2 inches

 Anchor Bolt Effective Embedment Depth: 18 inches

Enter the Loading Information
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following loading parameters for a vertical vessel foundation:

 Primary Load Cases: Used to input the primary loads (loads other than wind and seismic).

 Wind Load Generation: Used to input the wind load parameters. You can specify the wind load by directly input the shear and
moment forces or you can specify the wind load by entering the wind load code parameters and having STAAD Foundation
Advanced calculate the wind load.

 Time Period: Used to calculate the wind load and the seismic load calculation according to ASCE 7-05.

 Seismic Load Generation: Used to input seismic load data - either directly or by parameters which the program will then use to
calculate code-specified seismic loads.

 Load Combinations: Used to generate combinations of primary load cases for use in analysis and design.

2. In the Primary Load Cases dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Vertical (Axial) Force: kip

 Base Shear: kip

 Base Moment: kip-ft

3. In the Wind Load Generation dialog, enter the following parameters:

 Wind Speed: 90 mph

 Kd: 0.95

 Kz for: Exp C, Case 2

 Kzt: 1

Then, click Next >.

4. In the Time Period Calculation dialog, enter the following parameters:


 Time Period Calculation: Direct Input

 Fundamental Period (T): 0 sec

 Long-Period Transition Period: 8 sec

5. In the Seismic Load Generation dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Seismic Load Generation Calculation: User Defined C.G.

 Center of Gravity from Vessel Bottom: 200 inches

Seismic Ground Motion Values:

 Enter Value Manually: (selected)

 S1: 0.145

 Ss: 0.322

 Site Class: C

Seismic Response Coefficient Parameters:

 Response Modification Factor (R): 2

 Importance Factor (I): 1.50

Then, click Next >.

6. In the Load Combination dialog, enter the following parameter:


 Load Combination Table: ASCE 7-05

Specify the Design Parameters
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following design parameters for a vertical vessel foundation:

 Design Parameters: Used to specify the material density, bearing and stability design parameters, and the concrete design
parameters.

1. Continue with the model from the previous exercise.


2. In the Design Parameters dialog, enter the following parameters:
Material Density:

 Water Density: 62.4 lb/ft3

 Concrete Density: 150 lb/ft3

 Soil Density: 110 lb/ft3

 Consider Buoyancy: (checked)

Bearing and Stability:

 Allowable Bearing Pressure: 3.5 kip/ft2

 Coefficient of Friction: 0.5

 Minimum Stability Overturning Ratio: 1.5

 Minimum Stability Sliding Ratio: 1.5

Design the Vertical Vessel Footing
In this exercise, you will learn how to design the vertical vessel footing and to review the results.

1. Continue with the model from the previous exercise.

2. In the Main Navigator pane, select Vertical Vessel Footing > Design.
3. In the STAAD Foundation Advanced dialog, click Yes to complete the design.

4. In the Calculation Sheet, review the following loading information:
 Wind Load: Calculations were performed to determine the Design Wind Pressure according to the ASCE 7-05 Main Wind Force
Resisting System.

 Seismic Load: Calculations were performed to determine Base Shear according to the ASCE 7-05 Equivalent Lateral Force
Procedure.

 Load Combination: Load Combinations are listed considering Wind/Seismic Loads in combination with the Empty, Operating, Test, and
Erection Loads.

5. In the Calculation Sheet, review the following results:


 Pedestal Design: NG - Dp < Dp_min, Not in Compliance with PIP Standards STE 03350.

 Sliding Check: OK

 Overturning Check: OK

 Soil Bearing Check: OK

Edit the Vertical Vessel Geometry
In this exercise, you will learn how to edit the vertical vessel geometry and then redesign the foundation system to achieve a passing
design.

1. Continue with the model from the previous exercise.


2. In the Main Navigator pane, click Vertical Vessel Footing > Edit item.
3. In the Data Input Wizard dialog, click on the Geometry item in the left pane.
4. In the Geometry dialog, modify the following parameter:
 Diameter (Dp): 90 inches

Then, click Edit.

5. In the Main Navigator pane, select Vertical Vessel Footing > Design.
6. In the STAAD Foundation Advanced dialog, click Yes to complete the design.
7. In Calculation Sheet, notice that the Pedestal Design is now acceptable.

Enter the Drilled Pier Geometry
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following geometry parameters for a drilled pier at various elevations:

 Section Geometry: Used to describe the outside diameter of the pier and the casing thickness (if required).

 Reinforcement Layout: Used to specify the number of bars, the bar size, and the clear cover.

 Section Length: Used to describe the total length of the pile.

1. In the Main Navigator pane, expand the Project Info group and then click on the Create Drilled/Driven Foundation item.
2. In the Drilled Pier Job dialog, enter the following parameters:
 Pile Type: Drilled Shaft

 Unit System: English

 Design Code: US

 Loading Type: Static

Then, click Next >.

3. In the Pier Section dialog, enter the following parameters:


 Pier Height above Ground (PG): 0 ft

 Water Level (WL): 27.5 ft

Enter the Soil Section Parameters
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following soil section parameters for a drilled pier at various elevations:

 Layer Depth: Enter the distance from the surface of the soil to the bottom of the soil layer.

 Soil Properties: Enter the soil parameters (such as the soil density, cohesion, and soil stiffness).

 P-Y Multiplier: Enter the scale factors for the P and Y values in the p-y curve.

2. In the Soil Section dialog, enter the following parameters for the first soil layer:
 Layer Type: Soft Clay (API)

 Layer Depth: 12 ft

 Soil Density: 110 lb/ft3

 Epsilon 50: 0

 Cohesion: 2 kip/ft2

Specify the Loading Information
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following loading parameters for a drilled pier:

 Force/Deflection: Enter a shear force or an enforced lateral deflection for each load case.

 Moment/Rotation: Enter a moment or an enforced rotation for each load case.

 Axial Load: Enter the axial load that is imposed on the drilled pier.

2. In the Loads dialog, enter the following parameters for Load 1:
 Force/Deflection: Shear Force

Specify the Design Parameters
In this exercise, you will learn how to enter the following design parameters for a drilled pier:

 Reinforcement: Enter the material properties for the reinforcing bars in the drilled pier foundation.

 Concrete: Enter the concrete material properties for the drilled pier foundation.

 Critical Depth for Axial Capacity: Used to instruct the program to calculate the critical depth or to enter a value for it.

 Pile Condition: Used to specify the pile batter angle and the ground slope angle.

 Axial Load Parameters: Used to specify the axial load parameters (such as the factors of safety, the tip and skin resistance, etc.)

2. In the Design Parameters dialog, enter the following information:
 Reinforcement:
