Wendell Berry said “Earth is what we all have in common.” This states that whoever you
are, whether you are rich or poor, whatever race you have, people all share the same ground, sky,
water, and resources. That is why we need to take care of the environment because once the earth
gave up on us, everyone of us will be affected.
As years pass, humans tend to know and discover more ways in order to make edi easier
like new technologies, machines, and processes. Although these ways made our lives easier, the
effect it created to the environment is the opposite. Because of the increased knowledge in
technology, many factories are built in order to make something these factories release chemical
wastes that are dumped in rivers that will eventually hurt organisms living there. It would create
a domino effect. We can see that what we do to the environment will come right back at us
without us knowing them. It may not have an effect now but later on, when the problem becomes
bigger, we won’t be able to stop it.
Environmental issues around the world have now been a part of the crisis that our world
faces. People are not aware of their little doings, because they don't realize the worst outcome.
Taking immediate actions is a must to prevent possible hazardous events that may happen. Our
project proposal aims to let people become aware of their surroundings on what has been
happening on our environment today and to persuade people in maintaining a good and healthy
and environment. This project proposal helps the people to be informed on create ways on how
we can keep our environment safe and clean. Lastly it also helps the people on what ways they
can conserve our natural resources to preserve them for future use.
Literature Review
Cerda, García, Díaz, Núnez and Rojas (2007) note that solutions to environmental
problems must be sought not only in technology but also in the ways of perceiving the
environment; this in turn translates into a behavioral change. It has been argued that it is
necessary to change existing behavioral patterns to achieve a more sustainable future (Rogerson,
Bellingham & Shevtsova, 2009; Steg & Vlek, 2009) and that behavior analysis can play an
important role in solving environmental problems (Lehman & Geller, 2004). Therefore,
environmental education is essential if we want to develop a positive attitude towards the
environment and pro-environmental behaviors. In this context, Higher Education plays a
fundamental role as it ultimately aims to educate and train professionals who can play an active
role in protecting the environment (UNESCO, 2009).
Hungerford and Peyton (1994) developed a curriculum that incorporates the Tbilisi
objectives into four levels that develop as the students mature. Level I presents ecological
concepts providing learners with knowledge which can help them make ecologically sound
environmental decisions. Level II focuses on information (awareness) concerning many aspects
of human environmental behavior. Level III focuses on those skills needed for investigation,
evaluation, and value clarification. Level IV focuses on those processes important to citizenship
action.
PLT encourages students to improve their schools, homes, and neighborhoods based on
what they learn in the classroom.
More than 675,000 teachers have received training in Project Learning Tree since the
program began in 1976, making PLT one of the most widely-used environmental education
programs in the United States.
By teaching students how to think, not what to think, about complex environmental
issues, PLT is helping young people learn the problem-solving skills they need to make informed
choices about the environment. We are also helping to prepare a 21st century workforce faced
with increasingly complex environmental issues, like climate change and energy.
Project Description
Educational. Our project is also and educational website that provides you the all the
information about conservation and action plan to our environment.
Guides. A website that has facts and data to properly guide the people's thoughts and
actions on taking care of our environment.
Activities (actual roject plans). Our website contains wonderful activities that shows up
on what are the actual project plans that we do.
In order. It provides the following rules and regulations that is needed to understand and
follow to maintain an organized place.
Methodology
3. Promoting our organization more through making a website about our organization
This project will be useful not only for the researchers but also to the people of the
philippines. In order to gather more people in joining this project, we will be needing a website
to promote it and can also be a way of getting donations. Cleaning materials for our upcoming
campaign “The oplan tanim at linis bayan campaign”. We also need the help of the people.in
attaining a good neighborhood. Financial supports to buy the things we need in our every
projects.
Timeline
This project was created for one week. The campaign of the researchers will last long
until the proper ways of conserving and taking care of the environment has been the lifestyle of
people.
