VIII. Background and Justification
The Gender and Development Sensitivity Training is an initial effort to show how gender
shapes the roles of women and men in society, including their role in development, and how
it affects relations between them. It is given to those who have very little gender awareness
or none at all. To appreciate GAD and eventually become its advocate, they first have to
heighten their awareness of gender concerns and be willing to respond to gender issues.
Today, we are facing a lot of problems caused by lack of awareness on women’s rights
and advocacies. However, we thought of having this activity more effective if we can have it
out of town so as to unwind and discover more of the intrapersonal weaknesses and
strengths.
In connection to this, I together with PVES Faculty propose to hold its GAD program at
Los Banos, Laguna that will help every teacher to get rid of the usual GAD in school where
the entire school community will be learning by having fun and enjoying the activity.

IX. Objectives of the Project

1. Educate women on the rights and privileges in a society.
2. Integrate gender and development concepts in public administration.
3. Promote the equality between women and men in the distribution of benefits and the
opportunity to contribute to an agency program or project; and/or
4. Address the gaps in knowledge, skills and attitudes of key personnel on gender
mainstreaming.
5. To increase awareness and knowledge on gender issues, rights and empowerment.
