REDESIGN RUBBISH
At lunch time I received a phone call from the local Member of Parliament
Mr John Guard. Mr Guard told me that the local beach is a disaster at the
moment and more rubbish is washing up and being left by local beach
goers. More bins have been made accessible, but local citizens just don’t
seem to be disposing of their waste correctly. Mr Guard has decided that a
giant hollow sculpture at the beach, made entirely out of recycled
rubbish/materials may promote beach goers to pick up not only their own
rubbish but others also. There is one slight problem… Mr Guard isn’t sure
what shape the sculpture should be and what the digital flyers should look
like. Mr Guard needs YOU to help him find a solution to this problem.
Specifications:
As this project is to help clean up the local beach it is advised that if possible, you collect your
materials to create the model of your sculpture from here. If you are unable to make it to the beach
on the holidays, please collect your materials from your home waste disposal. Your model needs to
be made out of reusable recyclable materials, rubbish or litter waste. Your model needs to be no
bigger that an A4 piece of paper and must be free standing.
You will have eight lessons in total to complete this for Mr Answer the following questions about your
Guard. At the end of the eight weeks you will do a model:
presentation in front of our class. You will be required to What worked well about your model
present your model, poster and proposal. Each of the design?
proposals (speeches) attached with a photo of your model What materials did you find were best
and the advertisement poster will be sent to Mr Guards suited to make your model?
office to assist him with his project. If any, what changes would you make next
time to improve your design?
How would this promote sustainability?
