Heading for 2080

Evolving technology
During the last century technology has evolved so much that
we can’t remember how it was before all these devices took over our
lives. From the ancient phone invented by Graham Bell to the newest
iPhone realeased earlier this October it seems to be only a step. Ten
years ago everybody wanted a mobile phone to talk at on the street.
Nowadays, people want phones to take pictures like DSLRs and to be
as fast as real computers. With this technology evolving at the speed
of light, how will the world be in 2080?

Living in the future – pro/con???(alt nume)

Take a step back, do some thinking and try to be objective. For
the last decades, people have started complaining about the lack of
jobs. Factories have closed their gates for people and work only with
robots. Tickets are now sold by machines and the checkouts at
supermarkets can be made by the buyers. So, by 2080, we can
honestly say that everything that does not involve mental work, like
repairing cars, painting your apartment, cooking food, will be made
by robots.
Inspite all these bad things, there will be some advantages too.
As a first, the whole world will be educated, there will be no more
illiterated people. Also, the internet will be available for everybody
(even to states in Africa which are currently developing), so that
every single person has access to information.
So in the end, what is worse? The lack of technology or the
abundance of it?

Gaining life.
In 1863 Jules Verne wrote his first book (“Five weeks in a
balloon”). He has always been considered a genius for writing about
machines that were invented after his time. If he could predict the
future, why couldn’t Sci-fi writers like Frank Herbert and Isaac
Asimov predict it too? What stops us from thinking that living on
Mars will be possible by 2080? Flying cars, chips incorporated in
human bodies and teleporting will be the most common things.
By 2080, technology will improve the medical conditions of
each human being. Cures for cancer will be found and the death rate
will decrease considerably.

Improving human life.

With proper attention to ethical issues and societal needs,
technologies could achieve a tremendous improvement in human
abilities, societal outcomes, the nation’s productivity, and the quality
of life.
With the right scientist and the combination of
nanotechnology, biotechnology, information technology, and new
technologies developing every minute, paralysis could be only in a
person’s memory. Imagine how many people will regain their
interest in life, have faith in their future and in themselves if through
a surgery they could gain back the control of their bodies. Technology
is not just a way of finding out new things about the planet, it is about
saving people and about social integration.
These days sports at the Olympics are divided in two: the
Olympics and the Paralympics. In the future, these two will be united.
There will be a world of healthy people and there will be no
difference between the ones who once had disabilities and the ones
who didn’t even have a flu.
Believing all these things is a long shot but if we try, it could be
achieved.

Trying to save the planet

On the other hand, being so greedy about the knowledge
people possess could lead to a world’s end.
Temperatures are rising from one year to another, the global
warming is no longer a secret. Cities are more and more polluted and
even the countryside is no longer considered a breath of fresh air.
A rescue for the future of the ecosystems is the hydrogen car.
At the moment it is still a prototype, but expect it to be the next big
thing in the future. Laws could force people to protect the planet
more by buying such a car. Nothing will be more efficient in reducing
the pollution.

Ask yourselves.????(alt nume?)

In the end, nobody can say if technology is a good or a bad
thing. It sure has many disadvantages, but aren’t the advantages
more important?
Technology is improving every day, new things are discovered. Do
we ever think that maybe it is too late to put an end to it? And more
important, do we want to?
