MOUNT LOFTY HIKE

Date: Saturday September 14th 2019

Temperature: 23o

First thing in the morning myself; along with two college friends drove up to the base of
mount lofty and walked the typical tourist track. This was completed to replace the Kuitpo
day walk I missed due to an ankle injury. As there was no planning package completed for this
was we decided to stay on tracks and follow signs on the busy route. The weather provided a
beautiful scenery for the walk as it was sunny but not too hot; just nice in shirt and short while
carrying the necessary items covered in sunscreen.

Positives of the walk predominantly involved an amazing first-hand experience and view had
with my closest friends. We could fully turn off all our university commitments and simply
talk about anything while we were strolling and taking in the scenery. The relaxing nature of
the walk along with the fresh air and the lack guilt allowed us to enjoy the experience even
though we did get hot at times and start to complain to each other a bit; we all enjoyed the
outdoor experience.

Negatives of the experience was predominantly the number of people there; this was most
likely due to it being one of the first nice days coming into spring and being a Saturday did not
help as no one would have been at work. This also lead to an increase in travel time which we
did not allow for; as we needed to be back in time for dinner.

The learning experiences I gained from this walk is the ability the environment and outdoor
activities has on your mind by allowing the body to completely switch off and live in the
moment but still be able to gain knowledge through species, safety and new skills which can
be transferred into teaching students without them knowing they are learning so much.
