Q1. Given:

Determine:

i. Total impedance of the system


ii. Current passing through the load
iii. Power factor at the source
iv. Voltage drop across line and load

Q2. Referring to Q1, determine:

i. Apparent power supplied to the load


ii. Real (active) and reactive power of the source

Q3. A 15 HP, 240 V, 50 Hz, 0.85 PF single phase motor has efficiency of 92%.
Determine:

i. the power drawn by motor


ii. current supplied by source
iii. apparent and reactive power of the load

Q4. A single phase load draws 25A from a 180V, 50 Hz supply. Assuming its PF is 0.82.
Determine:

i. the apparent, real and reactive power of the load


ii. Impedance per phase of the load
iii. the resistance, reactance and inductance per phase of the load
Q5. Given:

V= 15000 V Z1 = 8300 Z2 = 5450

i. Calculate the current, power factor, apparent, real and reactive power being supplied by
the load when the switch is open

ii. Calculate the current, power factor, apparent, real and reactive power being supplied by
the load when the switch closed

iii. What happened to the current supplied by the source when switch is closed? Why?
