Gait Analysis Project

By: Chloe Obert, Holly Jossart, & Vivian Leida

What is Gait?

● A person's manner of walking Traits

● Distinguishing factors on the ● Leg length
way people walk ● Feet turned inwards or
outwards
● Comparing how different
● Sway hips
people walk ● Walk on toes vs. heel
● Height vs. step vs. leg length ● Bounce or no bounce in their
step
Data ● Height

Requirements ● Leg length

● Steps taken
Factors to find gait
● Length of walk
Procedure
How did we find results?
1. We taped a phone using the
acceleration app to the subjects
back

2. Our group recorded the data and

created graphs based off of it

3. We made sure to test everyone in

our group along with a male subject
to vary our results

4. We created a graph comparing stride

length to height

Testing our Model
● In order to test out model we took our subject Kelsey, recorded her height and
predicted her stride length
● She is 5’7” making her stride length somewhere around 16 inches
● After measuring her actual stride length was 17 inches
● Shows how our hypothesis of stride length vs. height is accurate
