Course The purpose of this course if for students to analyze production and service
Description operation systems and their relationship with all other functions and activities in the
organization. Deterministic and probabilistic models will be used to support
decision making.

Class The objectives of the course are as follows:


Objectives 1. To increase understanding of the problems and opportunities faced by the
operations manager in manufacturing and service operations.
2. To develop an ability to apply operations management concepts in a variety of
settings.
3. To develop an understanding of operations management techniques in order to
be able to evaluate recommendations made by technical specialist in the field.

Prerequisites: MGT 363 & BUS 220 or MAT 226

Class Assignments & Evaluation


Assignments assignments by the specified date. Absence from class when an assignment is
announced is not an acceptable excuse. Assignments are graded for content as well
as grammer. All assignments are due at the beginning of the class. Late
assignments will be accepted one class period after assigned due date; however, an
automatic 10% reduction for that assignment will be taken.

Exams may consist of true/false, multiple choice, &/or short essay questions.

Learning techniques employed for this course include lecture, small and large
discussions, case studies, videos, and computer software usage.
