KFC

“KFC was founded by Colonel Harland Sanders, an

entrepreneur who began selling fried chicken from his roadside
restaurant in Corbin, Kentucky, during the Great Depression. Sanders
identified the potential of the restaurant franchising concept, and the first
"Kentucky Fried Chicken" franchise opened in Utah in 1952.”

Who created this message?

Colonel Sanders is best known for creating a fried chicken recipe that
would launch the world's largest fast-food chicken chain, Kentucky
Fried Chicken.

Harland David Sanders was born on September 9, 1890, in Henryville, Indiana. After his father
died when he was 6 years old, Sanders became responsible for feeding and taking care of his
younger brother and sister. Beginning at an early age, he held down numerous jobs, including
farmer, streetcar conductor, railroad fireman and insurance salesman.

At the age of 40, Harland Sanders was running a popular Kentucky service station that also
served food—so popular, in fact, that the governor of Kentucky designated him a Kentucky
colonel. Eventually, Sanders focused on franchising his fried chicken business around the
country, collecting a payment for each chicken sold. The company went on to become the
world's largest fast-food chicken chain, Kentucky Fried Chicken. Sanders died in Louisville,
Kentucky, on December 16, 1980.

What techniques are used to attract my

attention?
KFC hires influential celebrities for television and radio commercials to advertise or endorse.

They have their stores painted into color red and white which is for me a perfect combination that would
attract the eyes of the customers.

differently from me?

There may be other people who don’t consider Jollibee on their top list or some may not have it as their
cup of tea, for me Jollibee is my ultimate food. I have been a lover of Jollibee ever since when I was a
kid and up until now, especially when I do crave! As I searched on their reviews, I’ve read great positive
comments from diverse people at any ages. However, I was no longer surprised, I mean how could
one hate Jollibee?

These are some comments to prove that majority of the people loves Jollibee.

I think one reason why this place brings the family together is because it feels like home. Jollibee
serves as a home away from home, especially in the morning. Their freshly brewed coffee,
beef tapa and egg are the best starters for a long day.”- Maria Santos Cabaron

“Entering the place and smelling Chicken Joy is kind of therapeutic, isn’t it?”- Ron Quindala

What lifestyle, values and points of view are represented

in, or omitted from this message?

Jollibee prides itself for being a Filipino-style fast food restaurant with some of their dishes
being American-influenced. Their specialty dishes which are the favorite of most Filipinos —
especially the children—are their burgers, spaghetti, French fries, and fried chicken.

Jollibee is so well-loved, especially overseas, Filipinos always form long lines to the store. It is more
than home for them. It is a stronghold of heritage and monument of Filipino pride.

Jollibee has continuously captured the hearts of the Filipinos nationally and globally, being like a
comfort food, that makes customers reminisce and feels like,” HOME AWAY FROM HOME” for
overseas “kabayan” (meaning fellow Filipinos).

The place never fails to bring joy to our lives – even since we were kids. Its happy, homey ambiance
Why was this message sent?

This message was sent to prove and triumph the loyalty of the Filipino community then and now, until
the business gets to dominate the market nationally and emerging globally. Growing up, we learned
to count on simple joys, especially when life gets a little bit shaky. These joys, in their simplicity, give
us real comfort, which is exactly what we need to get through the rainy days. Jollibee, our favorite
fast-food chain, is indeed one of our happy pills—a place that celebrates with us and saves us from
inevitable crappy days. Over the years, our love for this food place is one thing that we have been
sharing as Filipinos. Indeed, True Filipino pride
