MASSIVE INDUSTRIALIZATION

It is a process and a period of social and economic change that transforms

a human group and where during the 1800s, we went from people powered
machine to larger more effective people power machines and to machines
powered by water and then steam engines and then large factories that
produces goods.

Manufacture of new mechanical innovations to ease the tasks of mankind

had replaced manual labor and conventional tools our ancestors had used long
ago. In fact, the global village competently accepted the countless innovations
made like the elecricity, automobiles, and telephones.

Negative Effects of Industrialization:

 Environmental destruction
 Disease and sickness spreads quickly
 Workers might be abuse by the owners
 Urbanization will develop
 Greater poverty in the cities
 Lack of resources for the people

Positive Effects of Industrialization:

 Lots of jobs will be offer

 Increase in the standard of living
 Technological Advancement
 Increased world productivity
 Social structure becomes more flexible
 Application of science to study of health resulted in preventative medicine

Six Causes of Industrialization:

1. Natural Resources
Abundance of Forests: Cheap resource for building material
Large Supplies of Water: Vital source for human life, source for power for businesses,
shipping industry
Coal, Iron, Copper, Silver: Fuel source, tools, electricity, money

2. Growing Population
Population growth will cause an increase of demand.
More people = needed goods = growth of industry
3. Improved Transportation
Increases demand = increased supply = increase of shipping needs
Railroad business booms as a result
4. High Immigration
As people immigrated, some immigrants were skilled in trades that would help industry
grow.
Unskilled workers provided cheap labor.
More people = more workers
5. New Inventions
New inventions helped produce goods more efficiently.
Patents became common
6. Investment Capital
Economy Thriving = Increase of Business Profits

What is the condition?

It is profit. The people who built the factories were in search of profit. They
will use the cheapest materials and choose young workers than the workers who
had a lot of experience because they can pay them less. They will always find
ways that they could in order to achieve profit.

For example, thousands of overseas Filipino workers are hired every year.
Why Filipinos? Because foreigners feel satisfied at the service of Philippine natives.
In fact, a study has been conducted by the Swiss International Institute for
Management Development in 2004 which reveals that Philippines ranks number
one in Asia in terms of availability of skilled workforce. Aside from being naturally
smart and respectful, Filipino workers are also efficient in speaking English. Also,
labor in the Philippines is priced markedly, compared to the employees from other
countries. These are the main reasons why the Philippines seems to be a potential
location for call centers.
