LP Rev. No: 00
Sub Code & Name : BT6402/ APPLIED THERMODYNAMICS Date: 30-12-14
FOR BIOTECHNOLOGISTS Page 1 of 7
Branch: BIOTECHNOLOGY Semester : IV

OBJECTIVE:

At the end of this course, the students would have learnt about classical thermodynamics.
This subject will facilitate the students by providing basic concepts for courses like
bioprocess principles, heat transfer, etc.

SCOPE:

Applied thermodynamics for biotechnologists enlists thermodynamic properties of fluids

for both ideal and non-ideal solutions and understanding phase equilibria and chemical
reaction equilibria. This course will also help the student to take up course in Bioprocess
principles and an advanced elective course like Molecular modeling and Drug design. At
the industry level, students will gain knowledge about thermodynamic analysis of
processes.
