I. OBJECTIVES
 Evaluate existing online creation tools, platforms and applications in developing ICT content for specific
professional tracks (CS_ICT11/12-ICTPT-Ig-h-9)
 SUB-TASK:
Define cloud computing;
Identify the basic concepts, advantages and disadvantages of cloud computing.

C. Other Learning Resources: Empowerment Technology: page 133
 https://www.slideshare.net/Agarwaljay/cloud-computing-simple-ppt-41561620\
III. PROCEDURE
A. PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
1. Greetings
2. Prayer
3. Checking of Attendance
4. Recall the Classroom Rules
5. Review on the topic: Content Management System
B. DEVELOPING ACTIVITIES
1. Motivation
 Who among you here have used, facebook, twitter, inatagram, youtube, Netflix, gmail,
yahoo mail?
 All of those mentioned are examples of cloud.
 Through cloud computing we are able to have an access on the application/website that we
love using.
2. Student ACTIVITY/IES
 The students will be group into 4 and they will answer the following questions:
 What is the use cloud computing?
 What are the basic concept of cloud computing?
 What are its advantages and disadvantages?
3. ANALYSIS
 How was the activity?
 What are your reflections?
 What weaknesses did you encounter and how did you make it as strength?
4. ABSTRACTION
 Let us see if you got a correct answer.
 What is Cloud?
 The term Cloud refers to a Network or Internet. In other words, we can say that
Cloud is something, which is present at remote location. Cloud can provide
services over network, i.e., on public networks or on private networks, i.e., WAN,
LAN or VPN. Applications such as e-mail, web conferencing, customer
relationship management (CRM), all run in cloud.

 What is Cloud Computing?

 Cloud Computing provides us a means by which we can access the applications as
utilities, over the Internet. It allows us to create, configure, and customize
applications online. With Cloud Computing users can access database resources
via the internet from anywhere for as long as they need without worrying about
any maintenance or management of actual resources.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2019

 Cloud Computing refers to manipulating, configuring, and accessing the

applications online. It offers online data storage, infrastructure and application.
Cloud Computing is both a combination of software and hardware based
computing resources delivered as a network service.

 What are the Basic Concept of Cloud Computing?

 There are certain services and models working behind the scene making the cloud
computing feasible and accessible to end users. Following are the working models
for cloud computing:
1. Deployment Models - define the type of access to the cloud, i.e., how the
cloud is located? Cloud can have any of the four types of access:
PUBLIC CLOUD: The Public Cloud allows systems and
services to be easily accessible to the general public. Public cloud
may be less secure because of its openness, e.g., e-mail.
PRIVATE CLOUD: The Private Cloud allows systems and
services to be accessible within an organization. It offers
increased security because of its private nature.
COMMUNITY CLOUD: The Community Cloud allows
systems and services to be accessible by group of organizations.
HYBRID CLOUD: The Hybrid Cloud is mixture of public and
private cloud. However, the critical activities are performed using
private cloud while the non-critical activities are performed using
public cloud.
2. Service Models - are the reference models on which the Cloud
Computing is based. These can be categorized into three basic service
models as listed below:
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS): is the delivery of
technology infrastructure as an on demand scalable service. IaaS
provides access to fundamental resources such as physical
machines, virtual machines, virtual storage, etc. •Usually billed
based on usage •Usually multi-tenant virtualized environment
•Can be coupled with Managed Services for OS and application
Support.

Platform as a Service (PaaS): PaaS provides the runtime

environment for applications, development & deployment tools,
etc. PaaS provides all of the facilities required to support the
complete life cycle of building and delivering web applications
and services entirely from the Internet. Typically applications
must be developed with a particular platform in mind •Multi-
tenant environments •Highly scalable multi-tier architecture
SEPTEMBER 26, 2019

Software as a Service (SaaS): SaaS model allows to use

software applications as a service to end users. SaaS is a software
delivery methodology that provides licensed multi-tenant access
to software and its functions remotely as a Web-based service. •
Usually billed based on usage • Usually multi-tenant environment
• Highly scalable architecture.

 What are the advantages and disadvantages?

ADVANTAGES DISADVANTAGES
• Lower computer costs • Requires a constant Internet connection
• Improved performance: • Does not work well with low-speed
• Reduced software costs connections
• Instant software updates • Features might be limited
• Improved document format • Can be slow
compatibility • Stored data can be lost
• Unlimited storage capacity • Stored data might not be secure
• Increased data reliability
• Universal document access
• Latest version availability
• Easier group collaboration
• Device independence

5. APPLICATION
 The students will be grouped into 4.
 Each group will make a mind map of what they’ve learned about cloud computing for them.
 After making a mind map they will choose a representative to present and explain there
work.
IV. EVALUATION
Direction: Identify the following:
1. It provides us a means by which we can access the applications as utilities, over the Internet. What is it?
(Cloud Computing)
2. It is mixture of public and private cloud. What is it? (HYBRID CLOUD)
3. It allows systems and services to be easily accessible to the general public. What is it? (PUBLIC CLOUD)
4. It provides all of the facilities required to support the complete life cycle of building and delivering web
applications and services entirely from the Internet. (Platform as a Service (PaaS))
5. It allows to use software applications as a service to end users. What is it? (Software as a Service (SaaS))
6. – 10. Give at least 3 advantages of cloud computing and 2 disadvantages

V. ASSIGNMENT
Study about the next lesson which is creating website using Microsoft word.
VI. REFLECTION

VII. REMARKS
 The lesson is not yet done due to lack of time since we first discussed some behind topics on the previous
lesson which is Content Management System.
