APETURE AND DEPTH OF FIELD

Within the lens there are blades which open and close to allow in more or less light. They become smaller
and let in less light when the image being shot is bright and they become larger and let in more light when
the image is dark. These blades control the amount of light within an image but also the depth of field.
- On a camera the setting ‘AV’ means aperture value. This means that you are telling the camera that
the thing you want to control is the aperture.

DEPTH OF FIELD
Depth of field means what is in focus and it is controlled by the aperture. The smaller the aperture the
larger the depth of field. You should change the depth of field to choose what is in focus.
CHANGING THE APETURE ALSO CHANGES THE DEPTH OF FIELD
