9/10/2019 GOALS ESSAY

Have you ever wondered how animation is made? Ever since I was a child I watched and grew a

deep love for cartoons. I wanted to be able to create them from scratch and create amazing film.

Personally, to reach my goal of becoming an animator I strongly believe will need a degree in the

field of animation, the artistic skill to stand apart through practice, and finally the organizational

skills to complete a project smoothly.

The first step of reaching my goal of becoming an animator is a degree. I need a degree in this

field to even get in as well as show I know what I’m doing. A degree, depending on what school

will show what standards I've met to get into the field. I plan to get my first degree at the Florida

school of the arts or FLO Arts. To get into FLO Arts I had to turn in twenty pieces of artwork

along with a handful of sketch book pages to submit for review. Then my hope is to move to a

four-year school that will suit my needs and wants. I want a school that will help me move

forward in this pursuit, whether by getting me internships into animation programs or advance

my skills.

Next, to reach my goal I will need to have the skill to stand out in front of other artists. One

way to clearly stand out is the practice you put into your talent. In doing so you show you have

the ability and determination to improve. While I'm not able to practice every day, I can work to

try at least drawing in my free time to improve myself. I could practice landscapes, figure

drawings, abstract. Every form of art will be able to get me closer to my goal and I will be able

to bring that artform into my animation.

In addition, to reach my goal of animation I need to be organized. In animation with hundreds

of frames going into one second of film a plan is needed. It will help me feel less overwhelmed

and help with the overall process of animation. I will be able to stay organized through journals

and sketches laying out the format of what I plan to animate. Planning consists of thumbnails and

animatics to test the composition of the overall film and flow. This will help create a clean

composition, unity, and finally it will create a good starting point for my film.

Animation has been in my life since I was a child. I grew up watching cartoons and wanted to

pursue this path. I really got focused at wanting to create animations at the age of twelve. It

started with how to draw anime books and from there evolved into my own personal style. I want

to be able to take this style of mine and make it move. Animation is a beautiful art that I so badly

wish to be a part of. Therefore, my goal in life is to become an animator.
