questions and write down your solutions.

Questions

1. Consider the cyclic subgroup of U13.

i) List all it’s generators.

ii) List all it’s distinct subgroups and their elements.

2. Suppose that G be a group and g �G . Define a function cg : G � G by mean


of the formula cg ( x ) = gxg . Prove that cg is an automorphism on G.

3. a. Let € be an isomorphism from a group G onto a group H. Prove that G


is abelian if and only if H is abelian.

5. a. Lagrange’s Theorem states that for finite groups, order of a subgroup


divides the order of the group and there is a corollary, which states that a
group of prime order is cyclic. With these two facts prove that:
