Project instructions and guidelines

1. One project should be carried out by a group student.

2. Each team should select a supply chain problem and apply at least two modelling and
analytics techniques discussed in the class.
[Note: Predictive modelling (multiple regression, machine learning, neural network), multivariate
techniques, supply chain performance measurement are scheduled to be covered in the coming classes.]
3. For few sample problems, read Introduction and Problem Identification/
Description sections of articles entitled “Separating Inventory Flows in the Materials
Management Department of Hancock Medical Center” and “Supply-Chain Analysis at
Volkswagen of America”. Both the articles are attached with this document.
4. Selected supply chain for the project should be from the Gartner supply chain top 25

class.
5. Spreadsheet and other tools (to be discussed) should be used for analysis.
6. If any required data is difficult to get, use reasonable data/assumptions.
7. Analysis scenarios should be almost exhaustive.
8. Data/results should be presented in graphical form and its explanation should be lucid.
9. Every report should contain the following sections (with the same order):
a) Executive summary/Abstract
b) Introduction
c) Problem/objective/scopes
d) Methods
e) Managerial implications
