Final Reflection Paper

Before taking this EDT Course, I had considered technology overall and especially on

school campuses. I had already thought about the benefits and consequences of technology and

what it will bring as a whole to society as it begins to grow more and more. For these reasons, I

have been able to share my perspective on education tied along with technology and what roles

this plays on students…

As I mentioned before, I had already considered technology and some benefits and

consequences of this, especially in a classroom setting. At the beginning, I was more towards the

good side of technological usage in a classroom and did not focus on many of the negatives that

also come along with inputting so much of it in learning. I had not really worked with much

technology or had not learned a lot of different features that can be utilized to complete different

projects and assignments. However, now that I have gained more experience and have been able

to explore different things, my thoughts have changed. For example, after every module reading,

I have began to think more about the consequences of technology and what impacts it may have

on students. I have focused on the lack of communication and the reliance of the Internet in a

classroom that may occur if students are too accustomed. After every project, I see technology

taking a big role in our future, but I do not personally plan on inputting this in everyday lesson

plans or learning activities.

Taking into consideration all of my experiences in this course, I had encountered a few

problems or challenges, simply because I had never been introduced to some of the features. For

example, the coding project was quite of a challenge, due to the fact that I had never done

anything along the lines of coding throughout any of my years of school. Also, I thought the
project that talked about Artificial Intelligence and Internet of Things was a bit of a challenge. I

had never read or learned about these different types of technologies so I was confused because it

was new material that I had never even heard of. I managed to pull through these new challenges

and tried to read more about them to get a clearer or more descriptive understanding. I also

watched videos with people explaining step by step so that it could help me out when completing

each assignment. My strategy of looking for more resources still remains the same, but it has

changed in the way that I also look for peer advice and reviews for more guidance.

Looking back over my previous reflections, I do see a few patterns that emerged on my

approach to learning with technology. For instance, I notice the pattern with revision and

iteration throughout any project. I have learned to also take constructive criticism and

incorporate it into any editing process. I now consider each step of advice for any assignment so

that I don’t continue to repeat mistake after mistake and keep editing one simple thing. I was

surprised by my observation of having to think about past mistakes and trying to avoid them for

a future project. It has helped me because my editing does not take as long or I do not have to

remove or add so many things in every project.

If I were to take the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence and compare it to the

Expression Module Project, I would definitely notice various changes. For example, for the first

assignment, I was not very clear and detailed about every step. My responses for each question

were not descriptive enough so my peers had a very small idea of my project or template.

Additionally, I noticed that I did not really input much of the feedback into the revision simply

because I didn’t view it as a major necessity. Contrarily, as I began coming closer to ending

projects or assignments, I see myself being more clear and detailed throughout my responses in

each project. I take the feedback as an extra support for guidance and a better grade for any
assignment. This ends up helping me overall with revising and fixing small mistakes I may have

missed.

Thinking about any of my module projects, if I could go back and change something, I

would definitely change how I completed my podcast. If I were able to do this assignment all

over again, I would try to make the structure more organized. Also, I would add more creativity

with the cover photo and my transitioning sentences. I feel like with the first podcast, I was just

jumping from topic to topic without concluding each thing I was including. This made my

podcast sound a little more disorganized and sloppy. In addition to this, I would add more music,

a variety of music to make the podcast more comfortable or relaxing for people to listen to. After

watching and listening to more podcasts, I realized the amount of creativity these people

incorporate with different music, introductions, transitions, conclusions, and so much more. I

believe that even with any other project, creativity plays a big role that comes into finalizing the

project or assignment.

One goal I would like to set for myself for my next semester/class is trying to add more

time or creativity and effort throughout my projects. I know that this lack of effort and creativity

is due to the fact that I am not really introduced to the new project and do not take much time

researching or looking at other examples. However, I would like to set that as a goal for myself. I

want to include more creativity, especially considering the fact that in a future classroom setting,

I want to incorporate curriculum in different, but fun ways. I want students to be able to think

critically and creatively, so I evidently need to be that example.

This class kept and changed some of my views towards technology, specifically with

students in a classroom. Afterall, this class made me realize the benefits and consequences, while

discovering new things. Some of these things would be extremely useful a few years from now.
