Essay: methods governments should use to prepare young people for working life.

It is often said that young students are overwhelmed when they begin with their first job
nowadays. However, less often do we hear concrete suggestions for how to prepare young
people for their working lives. In this essay I will discuss two possible actions that government
could focus on in order to improve the young students efficiency from the first day in their new
job.

The first option to consider are apprentice schemes which could comprise trips to
companies related to the studied subjects and provide the opportunity of practical internships
for the students. This kind of experiences approach the young students to working life and it
shares with them an overview of the responsibility require in the competitive scenario where
we live.

Comparing two students, one who has never been out of college nor in an internship with
another one who has when they have to carry out their first company project. The first one
hesitates when he has to make a decision and tends to spend too much time trying to excel over
his workmates, writing, calculating, painting,… developing his work excessively looking for
getting the best results. Whereas the student who has a practical vision intends to adjust
exclusively to what is asked with the aim of being efficient so they could finish before and help
their workmates’ projects.
