Students will be able to retell a story sequence to build comprehension. Students will work in
groups of three.

● A sequencing worksheet (one for each group)
● A butterfly life cycle worksheet
● Colored Pencils/ Markers
● Large Paper Poster

Procedure
1. Teacher will present the book “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” on a PDF file online.
2. Teacher will assign students into groups by pulling out name sticks
3. One student from each group will write down a sentence a sentence from the book
containing signal words.
4. One student from each group will identify what the caterpillar ate Monday-Friday
5. One student from each group will be assigned with retelling a certain part of the story.
6. After the student retells a certain part, the student will have to write his/her part on a
larger poster paper.
7. Then the teacher will explain what was written on the larger poster paper
8. After the first part is done, the teacher will then go over the cycle of a butterfly via
PowerPoint Presentation
9. Each group are expected to follow along & listen. They must work on the butterfly cycle
worksheet & color it’s in.

Assessment
● Teacher will then review everything & make sure the students understood the concepts.
● Students will be given a mini quiz over what was taught.
● They also must arrange the butterfly life cycle in from order from beginning to end.
