Street food commonly known as “pagkaing kalye” is a part of
culture and lifestyle in the Philippines. In a wider sense, it can serve as a presentation of different spheres of life and characters in people depending on its origins.
Many street foods are intimately connected with take-out,
snacks, and fast food. Distinguished by its local flavor, it creates and mirrors culture and the environment. According to Knowles (1998), its history can be found from the people’s nomadic means of existence until the means of trade developed permanently that the food genre eventually became its own unique category. This quality explains the cultural and geographical characteristics of the above mentioned.
Street food can be then defined as a large variety of easy-to-eat
and easy-to-prepare meals and drinks particularly prepared on the street, also as stated and approved by F.G. Winarno, A. Allain of the Food Technology Development Centre (1986). It is enjoyed and known by all. Everybody benefits from its healthy consumption as well as it grants one important aspect in Filipino culture – finding pleasure in eating. Statement of the problem
This feasibility study is intended to evaluate the feasibility of
selling street foods. Specifically, it aims to evaluate and analyze the following areas: *The Marketing aspects of the study -Demand -Product -Pricing Strategy -Promotion Scope and Delimitation
The study will tackle the feasibility of a street food restaurant
business that is located at Maria Aurora, also the acceptance of the present and potential customers, on how well they will respond to these foods served in restaurants that are usually found in the streets. The respondents will be the residents of Maria Aurora, Aurora categorized from adults, teens, students and office employees. General Objectives of the Study
a.) To be able to change the perception of people regarding
safety and cleanliness of street foods.
b.) To increase the level of awareness of consumers on the
different ways that the street foods can be introduced from a simple and ordinary recipes to a stylish and savory dishes or cuisine.
c.) To line up with other competitors using our unique
approach in catering street foods.
d.) To offer an affordable but delicious and satisfying street
foods. Significance of the Study
To the consumer: the customer will benefit from this study
because through the data presented, they can gain a perspective that Filipino street foods are not only savoury and cheaper but also safe.
To the researcher: in the process of this study, the researchers
can attain new knowledge and skills from the subject that can be used to improve their skills.
To the future researchers: the future researchers can use the
data from this research to further figure out how businesses and street food can be improved and another one of which is having new discoveries that can be benefit most of the other benefactors of this study.
To the businesses: that these businesses can use this data to
