support the learning of content and competencies and enable children to find significance and joy in learning the lessons.
Weekly objectives shall be derived from the curriculum guides.
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding of different techniques to separate mixtures
B. Performance Standards The learners should be able to separate desired materials from common and local products

These steps should be done across the week. Spread out the activities appropriately so that pupils/students will learn well.
Always be guided by demonstration of learning by the pupils/ students which you can infer from formative assessment
IV. PROCEDURES activities. Sustain learning systematically by providing pupils/students with multiple ways to learn new things, practice the
learning, question their learning processes, and draw conclusions about what they learned in relation to their life experiences
and previous knowledge. Indicate the time allotment for each step.
A. Review previous lesson or Recall by giving some processes of separating mixture

The teacher shows to the class pictures that depict some activities done by construction workers in
B. Establishing a purpose for building houses and buildings emphasizing sieving of sand and gravel. Ask questions
the lesson Localization: The teacher uses real mesh screen or sieving tool
Integration to English: Describe the picture
C. Presenting examples/ The teacher unlocks difficult words or terms that learners may encounter in the lesson (e.g. benefit,
instances of the new mesh screen etc.).
Strategy: K-What did you KNOW about Sieving?
Direction: In a red meta cards write your answers in 2 to 4 words (3 mins)
W – What do you WANT to learn about Sieving?
Direction: In Yellow meta cards write your answers in 2- 5 word ( 3 mins)

D.Discussing new The teacher allows the learners to think independently, and list different activities that deal with
concepts and practicing sieving either in school and community. Share ideas to the larger group. See Activity Sheet 7.1

ACTIVITIES IN THE COMMUNITY INVOLVING SIEVING

Activity 7.1 Day 1
Lesson Concept: Sieving is a form of separating mixtures that can be
observed in the different activities in the community like in school, home or
kitchen and other set-ups.
Duration: 10 minutes
Materials: Notebook Pen
Procedures:
1. Think of the different activities in the different set-up in which sieving is
being done.
2. List the activities with the use of the following template. You may add
other set-up where sieving is observable.
