INTRODUCTION
A island is a mass of land that is surrounded by water and resort is
a place many people go for recreation.

Water has been a major attraction and a popular site for locating a
resort . Island resorts are typically developed and environmentally
sensitive areas and the success of the design is particularly
dependent on the relationship of resort building with the
topographical and climatic factors .
NEED FOR STUDY
• An island resort helps us how to provide a tropical experience
to visitors .
• Provision of waste management system is different unlike
other buildings as it is surrounded by water .
• Designing island resort gives us an idea on how to design an
environment friendly space since islands are environmentally
sensitive areas .
• We will come to know about different construction
technologies and materials used in buildings and
infrastructure.
• Provision of energy and water supply is also an challenging
aspect in designing this resort thus a detailed study will be
commenced on this .
• Island resorts creates and provides an experience which is not
readily available in many resorts .
• If designed properly island resort will be the first priority for
the visitors to enjoy their vacation .
• Design wise it also provides the opportunity to study local
culture and heritage .
 AIM
To design an island resort which is peaceful , eco friendly with
good recreational activities , thus serving hospitality .

OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of this proposal is
• To study different types of recreational activities preferred on
a vacation
• Understanding of site , surroundings and its topography and
designing according to it
• To provide an experience which is often unavailable in many
resorts
• To study the requirements of tourists in an ideal island resort
• Designing with the suitable perspective to the surrounding
environment and without any environmental disadvantages
• Respond to climatic and energy consumption issues raised by
present day architecture through sustainable design
SCOPE
• The scope of this design is to reflect the character of locality .
• To utilize local tourist attractions .
• Designing of relaxation facilities like boating , spa , individual
and combined luxury and economic suites for accommodation
swimming pool and other recreational facilities .
• This project provides a lot of scope for site planning and
landscaping .
• This project gives the opportunity to deal with visual , technical
and functional aspects of design.
LIMITATIONS
• This project will not focus on structural details

LAKNAVARAM LAKE
The lake is spread over an area of 10,000 acres and holds about
2.135 tmcft of water.
It was built by Kakatiya kings. It has about 13 islands
It is surrounded by a thick deciduous forest and it is a very
popular tourist spot.
Telangana tourism developed New accommodation at
Laknavaram Lake.
The new facilities including cottages, a viewing tower, a pantry,
and a ferry from the main banks to the island amidst the serene
waters has been opened for the nature loving tourists.
• This is one of the island of laknavaram lake where
government is planning to develop
• It has an area of 4.3 acres
• Laknavaram lake is about 65km from Warangal city and
usually 300 – 400 tourists visit this place every day and in
week ends it increases up to 1000
