Question 1

Design a fourbar mechanism to give the two positions shown in Figure 3 of coupler motion.

(a) A general fourbar linkage configuration and its notation are shown in Figure 2. The
link lengths (mm), coupler point location (mm), and the values of θ2 and ω2 are shown in
Table 1. Draw the linkage to scale and find the velocities of the pin joints A and B and of the
instant center using a graphical method. Then calculate ω3 and ω4 and find the velocity of
point P.

(b) Repeat problem 2(a) with using analytical method.

Question 3

The link lengths and the values of θ2, ω2, and α2 for the some non-inverted offset fourbar
crank-slider linkages are defined in Table 2. The general linkage configuration and
terminology are shown in Figure 3. For row a, draw the linkage to scale and graphically find
the accelerations of the pin joints A and B.
