● Goal #1: Classroom management. In order to create a safe and optimal
learning environment, expectations, procedures and rules must be set at the
beginning of the year and reinforced consistently throughout the course of the
semester.

● Rationale: Classroom management in physical education is vital to create an

environment where students can be successful. Laying out the before class and
after class procedures, transition periods, what happens when we are holding the
equipment, are all important components to lay out to the students so they are
aware of what exactly they should be doing. Consequences should be laid out as
well and should be consistent, of course, being aware of what the circumstances
are to why the rules were not followed.

● Goal #2: Increase student motivation and participation within physical

education/sport prep over the course of the semester by understanding the
students likes/dislikes, and finding ways to develop their skills through engaging
activities.

● Rationale: For some students physical education is a subject they dislike, or it

seems as if students are often quick to blame injury so they don't have to
participate. I want this to be a class they are excited to be apart of. This is a
crucial part of their day, getting that break from their regular classroom
environments is an important opportunity for them to increase their learning while
they are in that classroom setting.

● Strategies for addressing goal #1: Set out expectations at the beginning of the
year and being consistent with those expectations and reinforcing these rules all
the time will help to create those routines within the class. Building relationships
with every student will be extremely beneficial to creating a classroom with the
consistency that I am hoping for. Positively reinforcing those who are following
rules and procedures will be another way to subtly remind students of my
expectations within their physical education classroom.

● Strategies for addressing goal #2: In order to increase student

motivation/participation I believe getting to know the students and their
likes/dislikes in physical education will be beneficial. I created an ‘About Me’
assignment for the students to fill out that would give me additional information
about them that would help me to understand who they are and why they are that
way. One of my questions included what their favorite subject and least favorite
subject was and why. I have received some back that already explain to me why
they may or may not like physical education. I believe finding new
games/activities for the students to participate and receiving feedback on if they
enjoyed the game, why or why not. Engaging in class discussions will provide me
with student insights that I may not realize.
