Patient Management System

ABSTRACT

Due to increase of population many Hospital think on how to automate their

manual system so that they can attend many patient in a very short time. A “PATIENT
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM’’ is a computerized management system. This management
system has been developed to form whole management system including Employees,
Doctors (consultants) and Patients etc. The proposed system will keep a track of
Employees, Doctors, Patients, and reports regarding the present status.
Our Patient Management System is powerful, flexible, and easy to use and is
designed and developed to deliver real conceivable benefits to hospitals and clinics.
This PMS is designed to cover a wide range of hospital administration and
management processes. It provides relevant information across the hospital to support
effective decision making for patient care and hospital administration in a seamless flow.
It provides for queries relating to the following:
Patient related enquiries;
 Ward/Bed Allotment
 Admission Details
 Discharge Details.
 Doctor Details

DEFINITION:
Hospital is a institution that provides a broad range of medical services to sick,
injured, or pregnant patients. Hospitals employ medical, nursing, and support staff to
provide inpatient care to people who require close medical monitoring and outpatient
care to people who need treatment but not constant medical attention. Hospital
provides diagnosis and medical treatment of physical and mental health problems,
surgery, rehabilitation, health education programs, and nursing and physician training.
Many hospitals also serve as centers for innovative research and medical technology.
Patient is very important component of the hospital and management of patients is very
important.
Our project Patient Management System includes registration of patients,
storing their details into the system and also computerized billing in the pharmacy, and
labs. Our software has the facility to give a unique id for every patient and stores the

details of every patient and the staff automatically. It includes a search facility to know
the current status of each room. User can search availability of a doctor and the details
of a patient using the id.
The Advanced Patient Management System can be entered using a user-name
and password. It is accessible either by an administrator or receptionist. Only they can
add data into the database. The data can be retrieved easily. The interface is very
user-friendly. The data are well protected for personal use and makes the data
processing very fast.

PURPOSE:
Before all the data entry is done manually which make storage and retrieval
difficult. For this purpose automation of Patient Management is done.
This purpose of developing this project is build whole management system that
includes Employees, Doctors (consultants) and Patients etc. The proposed system will
keep a track of Employees, Doctors, Patients, and reports regarding the present status.
The main purpose to collect most of the information about Hospitality and Medical
Services

OBJECTIVE OF THE SYSTEM :

The objective of this project is to enhance the reliability, security, and convenience in
the administration of patients of the hospital or clinic.
The main objectives of the proposed system are as follows:
a) Patients are easily allocated to the doctors.
b) Patient will have ease way to get appointments.
c) Acceptance of patient/personal symptom and compliant
d) Provisional prescription and treatment.
e) Doctors Search is possible.
f) To help Doctors in viewing Patient Records.
g) Diagnosis history is maintained which helps doctors
h) Billing procedure is simplified.
i) To facilitate diagnosis of patients thereby reducing patients wasting time.
j) To improve checkup and treatment load functionality.
k) To Simplify tracking of Patients’ report.

In short objective is to help in Patient information management activities at the
Hospitals.

SCOPE OF THE SYSTEM

The system is very simple in design and to implement. The system requires very low
system resources and the system will work in almost all configurations.
It can be used in any Hospital, Clinic, Dispensary or Pathology labs for maintaining
patient details and their test results as system is user-friendly software.
Without a Patient Management System, managing and maintaining the details of the
patient is a tedious and time consuming job for any hospital or clinic. Patient
management system will store all the details of the patient and doctors and make it
easy to take care of patients in better way.
