ABSTRACT

In the field of electricity, transformer plays a vital role and it is the

Lifeline and integral part of electrical transmission and distribution
system. It is a simple static device operating on the principle of
electro- magnetic induction. Its function is to transform power at
same frequency from one part of the circuit to another.

The transformer is used as an important component in the power system

for the following two main reasons:

•Minimize transmission and distribution losses by adopting

appropriate transmission and distribution voltages, and
•To facilitate availability of power to individual consumers at the
voltages they desire for their systems.

As a part of the project design of a three-phase transformer was done

and
its performance evaluation was judged by comparing the results.

Testing was done on a three phase distribution transformer

and the parameters like resistance, no load loss, load loss,
impedance voltages were measured, which were taken as input
and the efficiency at different loads and regulation at UPF and 0.8
PF were calculated.

The results thus obtained were compared with the

guaranteed technical particulars and the performance of the
transformer was evaluated.
ORGANISATION PROFILE
VIJAI ELECTRICALS Ltd started manufacturing transformers since
1972. It is
known for its best quality in manufacturing. It manufactures
transformers from 5KVA
to 10MVA. Types of transformers manufactured here are: -
Oil filled
single phase
Three phase
Dry type
CRT (cast resin transformer)
Three phase.
BEST EXPORT PERFORMANCE: -
Vijai Electricals Ltd. embarked on ventures of export to foreign
countries and a
substantial percentage of the sales are constituted by exports.
The Organization has undaunted history of exports to its credit.
 The Government of India recognized it as the ‘Export House’ in the
year
1994.
 Government of India recognized the Organization as the ‘Trading
House’ in
