3. Explain in two or three sentences why you have chosen this article:
I have chosen this article first, because I am interested in the title of the article. I can
simply understand the title, still I am curious with what is contained inside. Second, because I
love such type of article that presents different point of view.
4. Explain briefly in four of five sentences what the article is about:
The reason why people in the world are getting smarter (as measured by IQ test),
stated by Steven Johnson is because of popular culture like television shows and video
games. First, the intricacies of nowadays’ television shows stimulates our brain that monitor
emotional lives of people around us to practice our social dexterity. Second, they develops
our social dexterity in which they have a set of ambiguous rules that force us to figure out
what to do by exploring and sorting through hypotheses in order to make sense of the game
environment.Third, we found the confusing phenomena in teenage life, the multitasking,
show us how video games and popular culture help us construct the hierarchy of tasks that
given to us, sort them all together and create the order or the tasks.
5. What is the writer’s message or purpose in writing the article:
The writer’s purpose is not only to tell us an analysis of popular culture in order to
expose the correlation of the increasing IQ scores to the popular culture, but also to reveal the
benefit of popular culture out of our existing thoughts about popular culture.
6. Give your personal comment on the article as a conclusion of your article review
The article surprised me by presenting a new point of view of popular culture. I used
to think that popular culture makes us dumber but this article tells another thoughts of
popular culture.

3. Explain in two or three sentences why you have chosen this article:
I am interested in the article because I find the grabber quite unique which makes me
want to dig in the arguments presented by the author. I wanted to know whether I could really
read people’s thoughts just by looking at them.
4. Explain briefly in four of five sentences what the article is about:
Reading people’s thoughts just by looking at them is not an easy work to do. But,
even though most people can not read other people’s thoughts, some can do that. The reason
why it is hard to read people’s face is because it is almost impossible to make a conclusion
from so many gestures, intonation, words, eyes, etc in a very short amount of time. We can
not fully notice what we have to notice. If some people can read people’s face then there may
be something that we miss.
5. What is the writer’s message or purpose in writing the article:
The writer’s purpose is to give revelation in psychology world that expressions were
the universal products of evolution. He stated that if the face was part of psychological
system, it can be learned.
6. Give your personal comment on the article as a conclusion of your article review
The article opens my mind into psychological issue in our lives. But that is happen
under our consciousness that we didn’t even realize it. This issue is very important yet I can’t
even notice it nor analyze it. In conclusion, I affirm that this article have bless me with such a
knowledge.
