Небольшое вступление =)

My name is Guzel, I am an author of this pattern.

I do not insist on crediting me by all means when you publish the photos or sell ready-made
toys (though if you do credit, that would be very nice)
Just please do not copy or distribute the pattern, it is intended for the personal use only.
I would be glad to see the final result – just tag your Instagram photo with @goozell_toys or
write me in ETSY.

This tutorial contains a detailed pattern of crochet Pikachu.

When using similar materials, the toy without ears will be about 8.6”, with ears – 12.5”
You can crochet a toy from any yarn, only you will need to choose the size of eyes, nose and
hook.

* For beginners I would like to pay attention to the

hook size. I came across a wide choice of hooks in
stores, which are marked in the same way but in
fact they different in working area diameter. I use a
hook marked as 3.5 mm, but its actual diameter is
4-4.5 mm. Please see the photo.

Abbreviations (US terminology used)

сh – сhain
slst – slip stitch
sc – single crochet
hdc – half double crochet
dec – single crochet decrease (crochet 2 sc
together or do an invisible decrease)
inc - single crochet increase (do 2 sc in next st)
sc3tog – 3 sc together
() - number in brackets marks the amount of stitches in the round.
The toy is made in spiral rounds.
I use the method of crocheting sc "crosses".
Watch the video on this topic https://youtu.be/KyuppYwtOQs (in Russian)

TAIL:

Tail is made back-and-forth (after each row we turn the

piece and crochet in opposite direction)

Row 2-6: 1 ch, 13 sc (13) – 5 rows;
Row 7: 1 ch, 4 sc (4) – stop here, turn around;
Row 8-9: 1 ch, 4 sc (4) – 2 rows;
Row 10 ряд: 1 ch, 4 sc, 5 ch;
Row 11: beginning from 2nd loop from hook – 8 sc (8);
Row 12: 1 ch, 8 sc (8) - changing to brown color yarn on last sc, cut the yellow yarn;

Row 13: 1 ch, 3 sc (3) – stop here, turn around;

Row 14-15: 1 ch, 3 sc (3) – 2 rows;
Row 16: 1 ch, 3 sc, 4 ch;
Row 17: 6 sc (6);
Row 18: 1 ch, 6 sc (6).
Finish crocheting with 1 ch, cut the yarn.

Crochet a second tail part the same, but don't cut the yarn.

Attach each other 2 parts of the tail – the first part is at the bottom and the second part is at
the top. Crochet through 2 layers as shown in the picture below, while taking into account the
following conditions.:
* on the outer corners of the crochet in the corner loop combination – 1 sc, 1hdc, 1 sc (to
sharpen the angle).
* change yarn to yarn of the appropriate color at the transition points;
* hide the yarn tails during the crochet process.

hdc

color change In corner – 1 sc, 1 hdc, 1 sc

Stop when you get to the top of the tail.

Make a wire frame:

Fold the wire in the shape of the inner contour of the tail ( keep in mind that after crocheting
the free space inside the tail will decrease).
Place the frame inside the tail and continue crocheting around the perimeter of the tail.
Finish crocheting with 1 ch, cut the yarn, leaving a long yarn tail for sewing (about 12”)..

before after after
tightening

Stuff the head and base of the neck completely and tighten the head as shown in the video
https://youtu.be/qIxUieuedfI
(The arrows in the photo indicate the points of tightening)

Next in the process of crocheting, we will change the color of the yarn using the first method
from the video - https://youtu.be/69U6dLVnBOQ.
For convenience, I will denote the place of yarn change with the phrase “CHANGE ON ....
(color)”, which will mean that when crocheting the last stitch before this phrase you have to
change the yarn - that is, during the second grab of the yarn with a hook, pick up the yarn of
the new color

Round 25: 34 sc, CHANGE ON BROWN, 8 sc (42)

Round 26: with brown color - 7 sc, CHANGE ON YELLOW – 6
sc, 1 inc, 13 sc, 1 inc, 7 sc, CHANGE ON BROWN, 6 sc, 1 inc

Round 30: with brown color – 7 sc, CHANGE ON YELLOW, 4 sc,
1 inc, (11 sc, 1 inc)* 2 times, 4 sc, CHANGE ON BROWN, 7 sc,
1 inc (52)
Round 31: with brown color – 6 sc, CHANGE ON YELLOW – 46
sc (52)
Round 32-34: 52 sc (52) – 3 rounds

Stuff the body in the process of crochet.

Find the center of the back in the last round. If the end of the
round does not coincide with the center, then add or dissolve
the required number of sc. This will be the new end of the
round.

Stuff the body to about level 35 round.

installation
Find the middle of the back at the level of 34-35 rounds, stick point
the free end of the wire into the hole and pull it inside to the
end, so that the tail fits snugly to the body. Fold the wire inside the body in a circle. Leave free
space between the walls of the body and the wire, and stuff it carefully with filler (to hard wire
is not probed from the outside).
Sew the base of the tail to the body.

Continue to crochet:
Round 39: {5 sc, (1 sc, 1 dec)*3 times, 3 sc}*repeat 2 times (28)

hook into 3rd sc, draw up loop, yarn over and pull hook through all loops.

Fasten off, leaving 15” yarn tail. Stuff the body completely, Fold the bottom of body and sew
with a needle, hide yarn end inside the body.

CHEEKS (make 2):

Crochet cheeks you can use any fine red yarn.

The number of rounds depends on the
thickness of the yarn.
Below is a universal pattern
Crochet the required number of rounds so that
the diameter of the circle is approximately 1" -
1.25" (25-30 mm).

Begin with magic ring:

Round 1: 6 sc in ring (6)
Round 2: 6 inc (12)
Round 3: (1 sc, 1 inc)*6 times (18)
Round 4: (2 sc, 1 inc)*6 times (24)
Round 5: (3 sc, 1inc)*6 times (30)
… and so forth.

Finish crocheting with 1 slst as shown in the video https://youtu.be/_HShe_QfNB4 (so that
the "pigtail" looked continuous), leaving 12” yarn tail for sewing.

ASSEMBLY:

1. Embroider a smile with black fine yarn:

Mark with needles 7 points as shown in the photo. Then

enter the needle at any point on the chin and then follow
the needle in this sequence: 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-6-5-4-3-2 and
pull the needle out at the starting point.
Adjust the tension of the threads in all areas, then tie the
ends of the yarn in a knot and hide inside the head.

2. Sew cheeks to head:

Fix the cheeks in the right position with needles or pins and sew with the left tail yarn to the
head.

3. Sew ears to head:

Place the ears closer to the back of the head at the level of 3-4 rounds, at a distance of 2,1-
2,4” (5.5-6 cm) from each other and sew on the perimeter.

4. Sew hands to body

Place the hands on the sides of the body closer to the front at
an angle of about 45 degrees. The upper edge of the hand
below the neck for 2 rounds.
Sew the upper edge of the hand to the body so that the
hand can freely rise up (fix on both sides)

5. Sew feet to the body

Place the feet on the lower body at a distance
of about 2.2" (5.5 cm), the front part of the
feet point slightly to the side.
Sew the upper part of the foot to the body
about half the length.

Fold the tail of the toy so that Pikachu stood

leaning on it.
