COMPLEX ENGINEERING TASK # 03 CLO-3

TASK:

Implement FSK Modulator circuit given below using discrete components on breadboard. Your
designed FSK modulator should modulate the digital data obtained from IR sensor. Demodulate the
FSK signal using DCS Demodulator module.

EQUIPEMENTS:

METHODOLOGY:
In this Complex Engineering Task we made a FSK modulation circuit using discrete components as
shown in the above figure. We used 12V supply to operate the modulation IC (XR2206). We provided
the power supply to the 4th pin of the IC that is VCC pin and 12th pin to provide the negative voltage

to the IC. After that we used the IR sensor module to generate the digital output. After that we gave
that digital pulse to the 9th pin of the IC that is FSK input pin and modulate the signal. We have done
FSK modulation using this circuit after that we demodulate the signal using the ETEK DCS 6000-07
DCS13-2 Trainer and got our data signal. We observed the waveform using oscilloscope.

FINDINGS/RESULTS:
In this Complex Engineering Task we have done the FSK modulation using XR2206 IC. We have
observed that the FSK modulated signal is 13.9KHz frequency when the IR sensor is generating 0 and
1.39KHz when IR sensor generating 1. And we observe that waveforms using oscilloscope. After that
we used ETEK DCS 6000-07 DCS13-2 Trainer to demodulate our FSK signal and we have
successfully demodulated our signal.

CONCLUSION:
In this CET we have studied to modulate the data signal generated with the help of IR sensor and
perform Frequency Shift Key Modulation using XR2206 IC. We have successfully done the
modulation and demodulation of FSK and observe their behavior using Oscilloscope.
