“A NARRATIVE REPORT ON DECLAMATION”

“Magbasa’t Umunlad. On the 29th of November 2019, Lavigan National High School meaningfully
and successfully celebrated their English Language Festival and National Reading Month with the theme
“ELF: Engaging Challenges through Creative Arts, Public Speaking and Writing”. With succeeding events
such as declamation.
Declamation (from the Latin word: declamatio for "declaration") is an artistic form of public
speaking. It is a dramatic oration designed to express through articulation, emphasis and gesture with the
full sense of the text being conveyed.

The following students are the participants from their own respective grade level divided by
Category A and B. Category A consists representatives from Grade 8, 9 and 10. Then, we have Category B
consisting representatives from Grade 11, 12 and 13. These representatives are chosen to be the best
among the rest on their year level during the screening before the succeeding event took its place.

This event is a sport that gives chance for the students to improve their acting skills, diction and
presentation skills, as well as enhancing a boost of thy own self confidence especially being at the center
of the stage where the audience and most of all the judges has their eyes on them. This provides varied
opportunities not just for the representatives but also to the students on the crowd a discovering and fun
experience.

“A NARRATIVE REPORT ON DROP AND SHARE A BOOK”

“A good reader should always have two books with him: one to read, the other one to lend.” This
famous saying has been told by Gabrielle Dubois. Stating that as a reader we should also enjoy sharing
books with our friends and colleague, as a book lying idle on a shelf is a wasted ammunition. So we deeply
encouraged each and everyone in our school to share and lend their book.

As we open our English Language Festival (ELF) for the month of November, Lavigan National
High School also launched one of our main activity for this national reading month. #DASHBOOK
(Drop/Donate and Share a Book) where all learners, school admins, teaching and non-teaching personnel
and some guests or visitors are encouraged to bring and share their own story books for the children. A
dropbox has been displayed for this purpose on the school. Where in shared – donated books will be put
up in the library corner for everyone to read.

It has been deeply emphasized the essence of this activity on how important is the art of sharing
and how it can help the students in the school. Where every book shared can be read and passed down to
every learner.
