Date: November 27, 2019
Venue: Lecheria Elementary School

I. INTRODUCTION

November was officially declared as the National Reading Month through

Memorandum #244 which was signed last 2011. The celebration aims to support the K to 12 Basic
Education Program; and strengthen the DepEd’s Every Child a Reader. It was done not only to
develop the reading skills of the learners but also to inculcate to them the love and passion for
reading at their young age.

This year, in compliance to the said memorandum, through DepEd Memorandum

No. 158, s. 2019, Lecheria Elementary School started its annual National Reading Month
Celebration last November 27, 2019.

The program started at exactly 7:00 in the morning with the daily flag raising
ceremony. The opening program started at 7:30 A.M. with our master of ceremony Mrs. Elisa M.
Oliveros. The opening program was thrilled by the welcoming words from our dear school head,
Mrs. Merlita M. Lastimosa. This was followed by the small talk about this year’s featured writer,
Severino Reyes in the inspirational message given by our master teacher, Mrs. Cecilia L. Burgos.

We conducted activity, “Mystery Reader” for the Primary Level, our mystery
reader read one of the stories written by Severino Reyes entitled “Si Juan at ang mga Alimango”.
We also conducted a simultaneous story reading for the Intermediate Level at the school ground
and ask some pupils to share about the story which they have read.

at the same time. Activities and programs like these help school-aged children develop the passion
for their love for reading and enhance their reading capabilities as well as their confidence to face
the crowd while showing their talents.
