P1: The transport strike last week gave me a headache, imagine I left my house at 5:00
am yet I got into our office by noon.
P2: You’re right, the problem just worsened when we were heading home, there were a lot
of commuters, but the public vehicles were just few, it was not enough to accommodate
all of us.
P1: Anyway, what’s that transport strike for?
P2: I heard in the news it was about that jeepney modernization?

Christian (voice over): Jeepney Modernization? What does it really mean? (Then ipapakita
yung pagtaas ng phone niya at pagtatype.)
Scene 4: Ipapakita yung pagsearch niya about modernization, then ipapakita yung scene
na nagbabasa siya ng article.
Scene 5: Ipapakita yung article na binabasa niya, then mapapaisip siya:
Christian (voice over): How would it affect me? The jeepney drivers? The jeepney
operators?

Scene 7: Inanarrate yung both positive and negative effects ng modernization (iba naman
yung magnanarrate hindi si Christian) tapos habang may nagnanarrate magpakita tayo
ng video clips na related sa jeepney modernization for ex. Mga ejeep na napasada
along with the old jeeps (parang representation ng modernization), mga nag aayos ng
old jeep, pagpila ng mga tao sa jeep, scenario sa loob ng ejeep, scenario sa loob ng old
jeep etc.
Narrator: People are divided with their opinions about jeepney modernization, it has been
a huge debate ever since the issue arose. Modernized jeepneys are made to give
comfort and safe transportation to the commuters, it is provided with CCTV cameras to
monitor the passengers and drivers, it also has speed limiters dashboard cameras, Wi-
 Fi and easier access for PWDs and senior citizens. It has new features such as having
a longer frame which enables it to accommodate more passengers, alongside with that
it is provided with an air conditioner unit. On the downside jeepneys is deeply rooted
within us, it represents the Philippines, having it modernized is like erasing one huge
part of our identity. Jeepneys also provides the cheapest fare for transportation, getting
it modernized would increase the fare you need to pay for transportation because they
had to maintain the facilities they have, from 9 pesos the minimum fare would be raised
to 25 pesos. Does this sound fair to you?

Narrator: Who do you think are the most affected in jeepney modernization? That’s right
the jeepney drivers and operators, the cost of e-jeepneys are about 1.2 million to 1.6
million which is impossible for the operators to buy in one go. Our government decided
to provide financial assistance amounting 1.5 billion to the transport corporation and
cooperatives, but looking at the bigger picture this will only give inconvenience to the
operators because they have to pay the debt for years, imagine the amount of time they
have to pay the loans instead of having larger profit from buying modernized jeeps,
aside from that they also need to maintain the facilities which will cause them again to
spend more money and getting less profits. The government also proposed to just
renovate the old jeepneys into the new one, however, buying the needed equipments is
more expensive than buying the modernized vehicle. So how would you think the
drivers and operators will survive this problem?

mawawalan ng hanap buhay or magigipit so parang para sa perspective nila yung
jeepney modernization is barrier para magkaroon sila ng matinong hanap buhay while
sa perspective naman ng iba privilege siya para magkaroon tayo ng comfortable at safe
na transportation parang ganon.)
