PH: CRAFTING EFFECTIVE SOLUTIONS

Edukasyon.Ph is a leading education technology platform in the country, Filipino youth

in having better education, career and life. Edukasyon.Ph gives students opportunities to

choose a better school that will help their growth. They are also an advocate of women

empowerment by introducing and encourage woman to enter the world that is known to be

dominated by man just like the field of engineering, computer science, and information

technology. Edukasyon.Ph also gives information of different scholarships offered by different

schools; it is also a way to give opportunity to students who truly deserve the scholarship.

That is a brief introduction to what Edukasyon.Ph is, but what we really talk about how

we want to change the system of education by the help of the technology. Ms. Patricia Matias

gives us 4 steps to startup and this is what I learned in this seminar:

1. Identify the Root Problem

-just like in making thesis and having investigatory project, what we need to find is the

main problem because finding it will lead you to a systemic solution. Ms. Patricia

identifies the problem as the smoke, fire and flint;

 Smoke is the symptom of the problem. This is what we observe and see in the

problem.

 Fire is the cause of the problem. After we see and observe what the problem is

we dig in to further learn what causing this problem.

 Flint which is the main reason of the problem.

 2. To Know the Lay of the Land

- Knowing the current state of affairs will lead us to a great approach in making

solution in the identified problem. We need to know what have they’ve done, did

other take a chance in creating solution to this problem and if what they done will

help you to create bigger or better solutions.

3. Involving the Multiple Stakeholders

- Creating solution to the main problem is good but creating solution to affect in

multiple stakeholders is better.

4. Multi-lever Solution

- Of course with don’t just need one solution but a multiple and abundance of solution

to solve the problem.

This is the steps that I learned from them in creating Edukasyon.Ph and this 4 step is really in

their platform and will also a good advice to us future teachers if we want to have our own

startup. This advice can be useful not only in creating new platforms like Edukasyon.Ph but

can be useful conquering problems that we experience every day. The last thing that I’ve

learned in the seminar is how I can integrate my course in the platforms of their seminar which

introducing to us on how to create our own technology platforms and we show it when they

give us a small workshop creating our own platforms that gives solution in a specific problem.

In that activity, I thought that I will not contribute anything but surprisingly together with my

group mates we create a platform which concerned in the career awareness and readiness of

students. There are so much learning that I get in this seminar not to mention that it is only a 2-

hours seminar, they still packed it with knowledge and make it fun.
