Let’s Talk Sex
I know...it’s something most people
don’t like talking about but there comes
a time when the subject should be
discussed in the interest of public
safety, so says the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention in Atlanta (CDC).
What used to be called the “Pox” later became,
erroneously, the “female disease,” then “venereal disease”
(VD) and finally someone found a scientific name ....
syphilis. The other two most common diseases....scratch
that....infections are gonorrhea and chlamydia.
I say infections because that’s what the CDC calls
them now, stating they are infections, not diseases so
from here on out it will be STI (Sexually Transmitted
Infections.)
Some of the content in this story will be unsuitable
for children under the age of 2 or so but considering the
promiscuity level of today’s teens and adults anyone over
the age of 11 should take note.
Gonorrhea increased 67%, syphilis went up 76%
and chlamydia increased 22% from 2016 to 2018. Now
that’s a helluva increase folks. Cattle and wheat prices

hands and a need for more sexual data to share with us
have deduced that it’s not how much sex one has...it’s
having riskier sex these days that is causing this malady.
Incidence of STI’s in the gay community has
increased tenfold because of the advent of lifesaving HIV

The CDC says “the decline of Americans’ sexual
encounters indicate that Americans’ sex lives are
changing. Doing it less with fewer precautions and less
safety nets in place.”
As sex has fallen further down the list of priorities
among Americans, so perhaps, has sexual safety.
Some folks report that in today’s climate involving
STI’s when someone asks if you have “papers” they aren’t
checking your Costco Card, ID or Green Card or your
“carry permit”. They want to know if you have been
tested for STI’s and they want to see proof that you aren’t
carrying. STI”s that is!
In closing a few words of caution ........VD is nothing
to clap about.
