Recommendation letter for Satish Baru Subramanyam

I am glad to recommend one of the exceptional students I have met in my

career for admission to the graduate program at your university. I have
known Satish for over 6 years as Assistant Professor of ECE department at
RNS Institute of Technology. Over a decade of close interaction with students
who have studied in the best universities across the world, I have developed
a good understanding of what is required to succeed in a graduate school.

I tutored him the fundamentals of Optical Communication and Analog &

Digital Communication. He was one of the three students selected as a
wireless communication intern at Alcatel Lucent Inc. Under my internal
supervision, he analyzed the frequency hopping characteristics, MS & BTS
power and traffic analysis. I observed his ability to critically evaluate a
problem statement and come up with structured frameworks to solve them.
We had several discussions to bolster his practical observations with
theoretical reasoning. Such a holistic understanding of concepts set him apart
from the rest.

Satish’s academic performance has been consistently outstanding, resulting

in him being among the top 1-2% in college. He served as the TA for HDL lab
(06ESL48) and VLSI Design Lab (06ECL77). He is always keen on making the
lab sessions interactive by initiating discussions and likes to articulate his
understanding of concepts which eventually served as a handbook for
incoming freshmen. His seminar on “PIC: A new era in ultra-high speed
chips”, was an outcome of his interaction with scientists at the prestigious
Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Photonics Labs. He presented his ideas
lucidly in the seminar.

One of the best examples I can cite to illustrate this young man’s thirst for
undertaking initiatives occurred last year when he was working with the
student council to assist in industry knowledge sharing sessions across
academic institutions. During his tenure at LSI & IBM, he delivered a series of
four invited talks targeting engineers on 'Emerging technologies in
Engineering sciences' to discuss the latest R&D trends in Industry &
academia, 'Deep dive into the Silicon: The Golden Sand' highlighting the
future prospects of VLSI & nanotechnology, 'Career Path: The road to your
success' to enumerate the various domains and career prospects.

I wholeheartedly recommend Satish as a prospective master’s student. In fact

I can think of few students whom I would recommend as highly. Please
contact me if there is anything else I can do on his behalf.
