Let Your Life Be Consistent With His Word

O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! Then Shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect
unto all thy commandments (Psalm 119:5-6)

A hypocrite is the one whose life does not line up with the Word of God that he or she believes. God
wants you to be real, a true believer, and not a hypocrite. Therefore let your life be consistent with the
Word of God.

When God says we should forgive so we may be forgiven, then let it be so. Forgive from your heart
all who offended you (Matthew 6:12).

When the Word of God says that our love for the brethren should be without pretence, then love the
brethren truly and for real (Romans 12:9).

When God says we should give bountifully and cheerfully because God loves a cheerful giver, then
that should be the way we should give (2 Corinthians 9:6-8).

When God says we should be holy as He who has called us is holy, then holiness should be your daily
walk and practice (1 Peter 1:15, Heb. 12:14).

When the Word of God says we should go into all into all the world and preach the gospel to every
creature, then you are not to be careless about it. (Mark 16:15-20).

As a believer in Christ, the Word of God should dictate the ethos of your life. Whatever the Word of
God forbids is forbidden to you, whatsoever the Word of God commands should be your lifestyle.
This is the way to honour God, by honouring His word through heart-felt obedience. If you honour
God and His Word in your life, God will honour you in all your ways, and bless you without measure
and make you a real blessing to others. (1 Samuel 2:30)

How then can this be so in your life?

First, you must know Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord. (John 1:12).

Secondly, you must be filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit inspired the scriptures. He is the
one who will give you a clear understanding of what God is saying to you in His Word. The Bible
says we should “be filled with the Spirit” of the living God (Ephesians 5:18).

Thirdly, you must be a diligent ‘eater’ of the Word of God. Do not just study it, search it diligently,
and eat it up. The Word of God is food for your soul, and divine light for your spirit man (Jeremiah
15:16)

Fourthly, you must be obedient to whatsoever God says to you in His Word, and by His Spirit.
Obedience is the proof of your love for God (John 15.12). Total, prompt, whole hearted obedience
even when you do not understand fully what He has said (Deut 28:1-4)

Finally, you should not only do the Word of God but also share it for others to enjoy the wealth of
treasures it contains. This was what Ezra did, and what you should do too.

For Ezra had prepared his heart to seek the law of the LORD, and to do it, and to teach in Israel
statutes and judgments (Ezra 7:10)
