Lesson Plan in English 9

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:

1. identify the different signs and symbols;


2. make a Vlog that shows signs and symbols; and
3. appreciate the importance of signs and symbols through giving explanation
to the object that represents their personality.

II. SUBJECT MATTER/CONTENT

• Topic: Sign - is descriptive in nature and it stands for something. Signs are usually
informative, regulatory, warning or prohibitory. It directly communicates with the
targeted audience.

Symbols - is a mark, sign or word that indicates, signifies or is understood as


representing an idea, object, or relationship. Symbols are means of complex
communication that often can have multiple levels of meaning. It allows people to
go beyond what is known or seen.

III. PROCEDURE

B. Motivation (Understand the Meaning)


 The teacher will use laptop and projector to present the different pictures of
signs and symbols and let students to give their own idea and interpretation
in each of the given pictures.

C. Lesson Proper
The teacher will introduce the topic to be discuss. But before having a further
discussion about the topic, the teacher will let the students read the objectives.

D. Class Discussion
The teacher will discuss the lessons. Students are encourage to share their own
insights.

1. What is Sign?
2. Examples of sign.
3. What is symbol?
4. Examples of symbol.

E. Activity (Draw to Know)


 The teacher will group the students into four.
 Each group must have one representative to come in front to do the given
task.
 The representative will pick a strip of paper containing word that represents
either sign or symbol.
 The representative will draw that word and the member will guess it.
 The group who obtained the highest will announce as a winner.

F. Analysis
The teacher will ask the following questions based on the student’s activity.

1. What is Sign?
2. Where we usually see it?
3. What is the importance of sign in our daily lives?
4. What about symbol? What does it mean?
5. Is it necessary to understand the meaning behind those symbols?
6. How helpful it is in our daily lives?

G. Application
 With the same group, the students will make a vlog that
shows signs and symbols.
 Each group will be given 10 minutes to prepare.
 After the given time, each group will be having their
presentation.
 Scoring rubrics is in page 4.
H. Abstraction
(The teacher will give or ask students to give the summary of the discussion.)

I. Directions: In three to five sentences, write your own interpretation to the given
signs and symbols given below in a ½ sheet of paper.

Directions: Think of any objects that represents your personality. Draw it in
